Guest guest
Hi Carol, Yes I have put him on probiotics. I give him Bio Gaia daily. I am running out of ideas ..... thanks for the suggestion To: miralax Sent: Friday, April 27, 2012 8:38:37 AM Subject: Re: Help! My 15 month old is constipated , does he take probiotics? I know women who have put the powdered form on their nipples before breastfeeding, if that could help - or in foods he does like. Carol I have recently resorted to peg 3350 for my constipated 15 month old son, however I stopped giving it to him after he was on it for 5 days. I gave it to him out of desperation, as I can no longer stand seeing him suffer ... he now holds his poop because he is afraid of pooping. He cries, sweats and will kinda bounce himself up and down when he poops ... he will even let out screams as he is pooping, it's terrible. I had read online that the body only absorbs trace amounts of the polyethylene glycol but I am having second thoughts about it's safety. Even if absorbed in trace amounts, how can that be good? In order for my son to overcome this, his poop must become soft again so that pooping is painless. Only then I believe he will stop withholding. My son is breastfed and refuses bottles therefore giving water on a daily basis is a struggle. He d oes take the sippy cup and some days he does better then others. He eats plenty of fruits and veggies, therefore I don't think diet is an issue. He hardly eats/drinks dairy products either. If any moms have experienced this with their child, any advice to help my son is greatly appreciated! Thanks

His poop started changing and he went from going several times a day to going every other day. I was worried then but I was told that I was over worried for no reason. It got progressively worse from there to where we are at today. The peg 3350 was prescribed by our family doctor. Can milk of magnesia be given daily? And is it safe for a 15 month old? Thanks for your suggestion > > > I have recently resorted to peg 3350 for my constipated 15 month old son, however I stopped giving it to him after he was on it for 5 days. Guest guest
sorry- my message got cut off. Pear juice helped my granddaughter who is 18 mo. The four year old takes chewable probiotics daily. I know there are many suggestions from others on this forum. Good luck. I would never give a child PEG after what we went through with our 4 year old granddaughter. She is still stuttering and having other problems after being off Miralax for 2 months.KaySubject: Help! Guest guest
It says for under age 3 to ask a doctor. So, I would speak with your doctor first. My son didn't have constipation issues either until we began solids. I always wondered why they jumped to putting him on Miralax rather than change his diet until his body matured. Hindsight is 20/20! Good luck!Joanna Kid Calm (check with your physician) plum smart juicelots of waterTo: miralax Sent: Fri, April 27, 2012 8:52:17 AMSubject: Re: Help! Guest guest
I was told by my sons gi clinic to use a tbl spoon of mineral oil mixed with plain old chocolate syrup for two weeks and it works. I was also told to mix a little malasis with warm milk. Steph It says for under age 3 to ask a doctor. So, I would speak with your doctor first.
