Guest guest
Sometime after the Institute of Medicine (IOM) came out with their report on damp indoor environments and mold illnesses, the University of Connecticut and the EPA published a document entitled: " Guidance for Clinicians on the Recognition and Management of Health Effects Related to Mold Exposure and Moisture Indoors. " Some of the authors of the UConn document also served on the IOM committee. I must get my two cents in that the ACOEM Guidelines sound nothing like the IOM report and certainly nothing like the UConn Clinicians Guidance book. I can remember when the UConn document came out in 2004, I was so excited to see that they were at least recognizing and acknowledging that people were reporting a variety of illnesses associated with mold exposure. There was a modicum of respect for the sick and their health problems. It seemed that we were on the path, actually getting somewhere with the recognition of mold illnesses. Many of us tried to get this into the hands of as many doctors as we could. Here is the link to the UConn document: _http://oehc.uchc.edu/images/PDFs/MOLD%20GUIDE.pdf_ (http://oehc.uchc.edu/images/PDFs/MOLD%20GUIDE.pdf) Would be curious what you all have to say about it. Again, this medical guidance document was a direct outcome of the IOM paper. That is why what has happened with ACOEM is so incredibly scary. Mulvey son **************It's Tax Time!
