Guest guest
OMG, I am very scarred. I stopped MIralax for 2 days already, had some prune juice for those 2 days, which gave me some diarrhea, some semi decent bm, BUT..... This AM when I went to the bathroom, I could not go....but found some bright red blood on the toilet papier, when I touched the area........ I am so scared. I know I have some int. hemmorhoids, but it scared me. It's not dripping, and I had some min. bleeding long time before, 1 year or so, when I was straining too much, it all stopped with MIralax. Now again, It's bright bright, is not dripping, just when I tried to wipe, ............ I know I have to go to the dr. soon, but is bright red blood sign of cc...I am hoping it's just some tear from diarrhea or my hemmorhoids flaring up.... I already made my appt with dr, but have no trust in him. > > > > > > > > > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I am 56 year old female. Guest guest
If you were straining, it's probably just some tears. If it continues for many days, then be scared and go to the doctor. Use some arnica gel or calendula cream to heal the area. Prune juice can work if it's not mass produced - too much sugar otherwise. If you have some Nature Calm, start that with the Plum Smart. You can do this! Just know it'll be different and take a bit of patience. OMG, I am very scarred. Guest guest
I was straining a lot throughout the day yesterday, I am still in terror, after so many months with no blood at all, and now, this. I will try to get some calendula cream or arnica...am not sure, where to find it here in Canada, will check the Internet. O, and I was so convinced about stopping Miralax, wasn't even worried about bleeding for a long time, and now, when I finally made my mind, this, . Honest, I am afraid now, how about if Natural Calm won't work....I know, I am driving myself crazy, I am trying to calm myself down, but nothing really works. TAking deep breath, walk in the garden, etc. I am really sorry I am such a whinner, there are innocent babies struggling with worse issues than me, and they don't even know, what is hurting them, and I am here making such a drama, 56 years old person. Yet, I really feel, that cannot take it much longer. I even had a terrible dream, about colonoscopy, which I also read quite a few horror stories, as it is quite invasive procedure, that is being done routinely just for about 10 years, so there is no long research about pros and nos. I wanted to have it done, but then a friend of mine had it, so I have a first hand experience, and hers was an ordeal from the hell, plus, it completely messed up her elimination long term, although they did not found any problem with her colon. What a day. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ** > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I am 56 year old female. Guest guest
It's not too late for you to make a change for the better. Before you get too dependent on Miralax, find healthier alternatives now. In my personal experience, another reason not to take Miralax is that you need to take more and more as the years go by. I should know because I take 3 capfuls of Miralax plus at least two enemas a day. And it all started with a capful of Miralax in 2001. The reason I am not actively trying to find a way out of this is that right now I am preoccupied with recovering my daughter from autism while working full time. My daughter's constipation is the reason I am in this yahoo group. I don't want her going down the path that I am. I recommend going to a naturopathic doctor. Those professionals are worth their weight in gold. When they had my daughter on the gluten-free casein-free diet, she had no constipation whatsoever. Against their advice, we abandoned that diet, because it's hard to keep it up with school snacks. Constipation came back with a vengeance. In her case, constipation is life-threatening, because, due to a urinary tract problem she was born with, constipation causes some really nasty urinary tract infections that require 10-day hospitalizations with IV antibiotics. Of course her urologist is pushing Miralax. But thanks to the naturopathic doctors who did not give up on us, even though we did not listen to their advice about the gluten-free casein-free diet, she is on a mixture of supplements that have kept constipation at bay for a long time now. These supplements include calcium magnesium citrate, fish oil, vitamin C, digestive enzymes, probiotics, minerals, and carnitine. In my humble opinion, you need the knowledge and support of naturopathic doctors when trying to wean yourself off of Miralax. Good luck. Guest guest
Thank you so much. So, you think it's not too late for me. I am sorry to read about your situation, being on 3 caps of Miralax, plus enemas. Still, I am glad that naturopath approach is working for your daughter. It did not work for you at all ? I mean, not at all ? Could you, please tell me, what kind of digestive enzymes, probiotics, minerals, and carnitine is your daughter using ? And yes, I was already looking for some naturopathic doktor in my area. Found some contacts, will try to make an arrangement. Thank you very much, again, I wish you and your daughter well. Still, I cannot imagine being on 3 cups of MIralax on a daily basis, plus enemas. And you do not have any reaction to that ? > > It's not too late for you to make a change for the better. Guest guest
I have never tried the natural approach to my own health. I am one of those people who won't spend any time or money on herself. Even if my body is giving me clues about the effects of laxative abuse, I am brushing them aside. I am singly-focused on my daughter right now. I'll move heaven and earth to help her. I am at work now. This weekend, I'll write down the brands of supplements that my daughter takes every day. These are by no means the only great products out there. These are just what her team of naturopathic doctors gave her and they work for her. Mel > > Thank you so much. Guest guest
I don't know what I was thinking when I said I'd write down the names of the supplements my daughter takes over the weekend. Weekends are a zoo at my house. Actually, my house is a zoo at all times. So, here I am at work again, writing. Nobody go just by my advice, please. I am not smart at all when it comes to scientific stuff. The naturopathic doctors at Wholeness Center in Fort , CO, (www.wholeness.com) did some urine and blood tests and recommended these supplements for her. These naturopathic doctors do a more detailed and finer job of analyzing one's levels; they don't just say, " It's within normal range, " like a regular doctor. They really fine-tune supplements to an individual's needs. I don't have the stuff right in front of me, so here is my best effort from my memory: Calcium magnesium citrate: She takes this for constipation. Some people give it to their kid with autism for calming them. It doesn't seem to calm my wild one, but it makes her poop. Yee ha! The brand is Pure Encapsulations. www.pureencapsulations.com. Another pure supplement company is www.thorne.com. Vitamin C: I don't recall the brand name of this one. It's liquid and in a big bottle. It helps constipation. Fish oil: Apparently, this helps constipation, too. The bottle we use says Super EFA on it. Infant probiotics: I don't recall brand name, but you wouldn't be taking infant ones anyway. Digestive enzymes: The brand name is Digest Right. Citramin II minerals: This one actually stops her from chewing on everything she sees, which is something a lot of autistic kids do. I choose this one, because it excludes iron. Iron causes constipation. Biomin II is a good set of minerals without iron also. Always make sure the minerals you take exclude iron so you don't get even more constipated than you already are. Syndion: An all-around great, pure vitamin/mineral product that excludes iron and includes good stuff like COQ10. COQ10: People take this for heart strength, immune system, etc. It also helps with muscle contraction, which I think includes intestinal motility type contractions. Acetyl-l Carnitine: People take this for cognitive function, and restoring muscular function, etc., which, again, helps intestinal motility according to my daughter's doctor. My daughter, however, doesn't like the preferred pure kind because it's sour. She takes a sweetened prescription version, which I have read, is not as effective. Since my daughter is too little to swallow capsules, we open them up and pour them into mashed baby food, stir, then suck them into a syringe and squirt them into her mouth, quickly followed by a favored beverage. Good luck to you. Mel > > Thank you so much. So, you think it's not too late for me. > I am sorry to read about your situation, being on 3 caps of Miralax, plus enemas. > Still, I am glad that naturopath approach is working for your daughter.
