NO. It is not a white flag. It is those who have generated substantial

income from false denial of illness, trying to put the blame on someone else.

What it is, is disgusting.

I think the situation is of one getting caught with their fingers in the

that tempted them.

Who was minding the store when " undue influence " became the order of

the day?

The White House, Office of Management and Budget. Aka, Industry. And it

reaches FAR beyond occupational medicine. THESE are the physicians we have put

in charge of advancing the understanding of environmental illnesses in our

children. They have been systematically using our tax dollars to deny the

exact same illnesses we are funding them to research. The mold issue serves as

a prime example of how rampant the corruption is within many " not for profit "

medical associations.

The problems begin with the ambitious attempt to somehow meld Occupational

Medicine and Environmental Medicine into a single medical specialty. Although

the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (ACOEM) and

the Association of Occupational and Environmental Clinics (AOEC) deny it,

historically Occupational Medicine serves industrial interests, as this medical

specialty is designed to advance measures that would limit the financial risks

to employers and insurers that may arise from workplace injury and illness.

Environmental Medicine is designed to serve the public interest by increasing

the understanding of the causes and treatments of illness without any

particular regard for industrial concerns, but all too often the same

physicians

who advance the interests of employers also serve as experts in environmental

health matters. The blurring of the divide between the two specialties also

leaves Occupational Medicine in a position to leverage its association with

Environmental Medicine into a key public health role that extends, in this

case,

to control of the funding for pediatric environmental research.

Ditto!! Well said, !

[] Re: [occ-env-med-l] FW: Doctors feel push to downplay

inj...

I am (for lack of a better word) just sickened by all of this. As

far as I am concerned, the article just backs up the title of the

document you reference below Sharon: ACOEM, A Professional Society

in Service to Industry " They basically admitted it in the article.

Independent Medical Examiners: yea, right...and pigs fly.

What happened to " First do no harm? " Who are we supposed to trust?

I have been sick with mold related illnesses for TWENTY YEARS this

September and have been working on trying to do something about it

when I found out in 2000 that mold was what was making me sick. I

lost count of the numbers of times I went to the doctors with various

strange and repetitive illnesses yet no one could figure out why I

was always sick. Diagnosis deferred, diagnosis deferred, we don't

know, we don't know.

How dare they do this to me and to you all. They took a good part of

my life away from me.......for MONEY.....for their own self interests.

When we get the letter together for you all to send to your congress

member, do not even hesitate to send it. If we don't take care of

ourselves and protect our health and futures, you can clearly see now

that no one else is going to do it for you. There is such strength

in numbers, especially when we are on the side of the angels.

Once we get money and special interest out of mold illnesses, they

can't hide behind false medicine anymore and be allowed to get away

with harming you, your families, children in schools and your co-

workers.

I'm so glad a letter is being put together. I wanted

to generate something like that with this group, but

as was feared, I got hit with having to keep my head

up above the water again. That's the problem. We all

are just struggling to get better and think straight,

it is hard to put energy we don't have into changing

this in the world. Thing is, if we don't, whose

gonna?

Anyway, when you lose so much, over and over, maybe it

gets to the point where you feel-well hell, what am I

protecting anyway-what have I got to lose? My health

(LOL)?

Well said, and let me know how I can help.
