It's now Sunday and she is just as crabby as yesterday. She denies being

responsible for knowing anything, so everything is a problem because of me.

i just finished making egg salad for lunch, thanks to lots of your

suggestions, and I am going to disappear for a while and go to the store.

Her words have been through the blender again and she just asked me what kind

of tobacco. I told her it was 8:35, and that seemed to be the answer she was

looking for.

Her father raised tobacco when she was a child. He trained the mules,

probably some of his technique transferred to the 6 children.

She can be as stubborn as a mule, and just as mean.

I had to leave the breakfast table to come connect with you guys so I don't

allow my blood pressure to get the best of me.

She is more like the mother-in-law I remember, crabby as hell. for quite some

time the Lewy symptoms actually made her nicer.

Her sons will commit her her anytime I give the word. They cannot take her a

fraction of what I have allowed myself to put up with.

Fortunately there is nowhere for her to wander to, so we can leave her for an

hour at a time.

I am sorry she is so unhappy, but I also will not be abused, and then accused

of trying to steal everything form her. I do think she has had some strokes her

lately, and they have caused some nasty changes.

Yesterday she ended up throwing her filled coffee cup all over herself while

being ugly and sticking her tongue out and making hand gestures towards me.

When we ignore her, she calms down.

She is having a fill-in sitter on Monday and Tuesday. My former student also

needs a bit of a break. Millie is wearing out her caregiver at a pretty fast

clip right now.

Her sister, who also had Lewy body died of a stroke. I am thinking our end

will also be from a fatal stroke, as well. I think we have had one that hit

somewhere near all of the optic controls, and yesterday her ears were zapped.

It would be good if she could go quickly, rather than to have to be bed bound,

and incontinent.

Her speech is about gone, and so she won't be verbally abusive much longer.

It is so sad, and not a pretty way to decline, but it is what it is.

She looks to have fallen asleep in her chair at the breakfast table.

If I would have stayed at the table, she would still be trying to pick a

fight.

Every time I told her she won yesterday, and that I refused to argue with her,

she got more and more agitated. I have taken my sail out of her wind today, so

she can blow harmlessly in any direction.

I am venting calmly, and actually fairly proud I can be emotional distant

today. I feel into every trap she set yesterday, and it wore me out. Today, I

will try not to take the bait.

Ron, you have my sympathies for your first bowel movement. I guess it will

be something like a BM right after giving birth. Remember, I am the poop girl,

and am there for you for the sacred event. We are in your corner. Shit happens!

May it not be a killer!

Give my regards to Broadway, and remember me to Harold Square!

I will catch you guys later!

Carol

Carol, I read about Millie and ask myself can she she be related to my

grandmother??? What you describe has all occured to us with my grandmother. She

is combative, she is mean and rude, she gets very stuborn and is afraid to sleep

at night.

My mother in tears asked this morning pleaded with my grandmother that we need

to sleep at night. Her response is that if she can't sleep then we shouldn't

either.

She constantly moans in agony and tells us she dieing. I've taken her

numourous times to the ER, just to be return with the diagnosis of anxiety

attack...

The melatonin worked for the first 2 days but since then were back to square

one.

She acuses of wanting to deliberly hurt (kill) her. She acuses us of not

feeding her. She has soooooo many accusations .... but we're constantly trying

to help her and make her as comfortable as possible.

The other night, we put her to bed, raised to bed rails and we went to bed.

An hour later, we heard a thump......she jumped the bed rails and was on the

floor.

Put her to bed again and a hour and half later....she had taken her dirty

diaper off, thrown it on floor and smuged the bed, herself floor and whole room

with feces.

When I asked her what happened she told me she didn't feel like wearing a

diaper.

In desperation I paged her doctor today. We are going to try to give her some

Ativan tonight.

I am excited at the possibility that maybe tonight we can a full night sleep.

Carol I feel for you and my heart goes out to you....there are days I ask

myself how are we going to continue keeping grandma at home .

not, get a large pan of warm water and sit in it; that

allows those muscles to relax. I found that to be my

only relief.

Hope you get to feeling better.

Holly,

I have heard of several over the years who put regular underpants over Depends

which makes it much more difficult to get them off.

Do you have full rails or half rails? While she can still get around, full

rails have never been recommended for just the reason you described. They

crawl over them. Half rails at least give them a chance to go around. It

doesn't keep them in bed.

Hope the meds work. . Does she gets sleep during the day? This was my biggest

problem was getting Mom to sleep at night. When she was busy and awake all day,

she did do better at night. But it is a full time job to handle all parts of

this disease..

(((((Hugs,)))))

Donna R

Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in

a nh.

She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine.
