Staff at a 109 year-old rat-infested national school in Ballinasloe

say they're in a crisis situation and need a new school immediately.

Eglish national school in Ahascragh has no central heating, only one

hot water tap, cracked walls, rotten roof, disintegrating windows, as

well as damp, mould, snails, bats and rats.

The Department of Education is still considering their application for

a new permanent school building for their 48 pupils.

Principal Mulry says 'every days delay is a day on which a

child could be injured or killed'.
