Guest guest
Dear Carol- Keeping you in my prayers for strength and wisdom through this part of the journey. May you feel His arms wrapped tightly around you. Sending along hugs- Sandie Des Moines, IA dad, Merle, passed from LBD 9-20-02, age 65 mum, (MIL), Jo, passed from LBD 4-29-07, age 78 -- " adhd5464 " wrote: The hospital had her transported to Hospice this afternoon. The hospital social worker called me, probably at Jim's request to let me know they were putting near my school so i can keep up with her day- to-day. Millie has been off Ultram for 5 days now, and although the blood pressure is still up and down, she is full of piss and vinegar. She cannot understand she has a catheter, and wants to go pee all the time. There is no convincing her that she doesn't have to go. they may take the catheter out tomorrow at Hospice, because the only reason she had one to begin with, was to get a specimen for a UTI. But it lets me see her urine has taken on a more teaish color. I realize they could call at any minute and say she has taken a drastic turn, or we could go on like this for weeks. I have discussed brain donation with two of the sons, and autopsy as well for the benefit of two of the sons and the grandsons. Turns out all three of the sisters had LBD! I was aware of the two, but my b-i-l said the last one to pass had definite symptoms. I made a sock and slipper run for Millie and packed some things up tonight to drop off on my way to work. Wardrobe will depend on catheter, or not. Charla, sometimes we call passing a victory here in Lewyland. We are never prepared, but the end can be such a blessing for LBD victims. You have some tough days ahead, but you have also been through some of the toughest. Let God hold you in the palm of His hand for the next while. (Like you have a choice!) We do not know how long we have left on our ride, and we could be only days behind you. Do things that will honor your Dad in the next few days. Consider putting something in his pocket that is special between the two of you. I figure Lewies get a special reception in Heaven, as they conquered a definite hellish disease on earth. I think there needs to be a free upgrade for folks coming off the Lewy ride. Ron, bottoms up? I'll keep you guys posted on Millie's ups and downs. Carol Welcome to LBDcaregivers.
