Guest guest
Does your state have a " neighbor notification " type program? We are in land and my daughter's doctor has given us a signed application to send to the state. The state gov. will notify our adjacent neighbors that they must give us at least three days warning before they apply pesticides to their lawns because my daughter is ill and cannot tolerate them. In theory, it gives us time to plan to take her away during the application, etc. I hope this is helpful to you and I am sorry you have to deal with such ignorance! Guest guest
According to the book Common-Sense Pest Control by Olkowski, Daar & Olkowski, 1991 Taunton Press, grubs are the larval stage of beetles. Two interesting methods they note: 1. Spiking: Walking across the lawn wearing lawn aerator sandals resulted in a kill rate nearly equal to chemicals. 2. Milky Spore Disease: Application of Bacillus popilliae (BP), commercial products Doom, Japidemic and Grub Attack. Doesn't harm other other life forms including humans. Guest guest
Years ago I heard of something called " Ringer " because I was not having a " Chemlawn. Guest guest
I used milky spore successfully. Sounds terribly now that I think of it but chemicals kill also, so. Beneficial nematodes mentioned at end will go after termites as well: http://www.gardensalive.com/article.asp?ai=768 & bhcd2=1211518134 > > I am pleading with my neighbor to use something natural to rid her lawn > of " grubs " destroying it. Guest guest
I had a mole breaking up my lawn and heard the moles were after grubs so put the milky spore powder down and he left. Neighbor about a month later complained of a mole in his yard, so he must have moved next door. I think it lasted 5-6 years. This year I notice a mole but last year we had a drought so probably drought killed the bacteria and probably need to put it down again. I'd like to get the beneficial nematodes to keep terminate down. You can buy them online from farming supply places. --- In , " Carl E.
