You track in spores from the outside all the time... But those spores need moisture to grow. Some signs you can see is a dark, fuzzy material on your ceiling or around vents. Also trust your nose... That musty smell in your home... It's probably mold. Experts say having it in your home can make you sick. " Adverse health effects that molds can cause in a home would be runny nose, sneezing, those kinds of things, " said Ken Runkle of the Illinois Department of Health. " Particularly people who have asthma or other respiratory conditions might be particularly sensitive. " The biggest thing to do to get rid of mold is dry out your house… open doors and let fresh air in. Also it's important to get an air quality expert out to your home to let you know what kind of mold you have. Some are more dangerous than others. Experts say those molds can even cause heart problems and bronchitis.

Guest guest
My experience is that opening doors and letting in fresh air is good advice for winter but the rest of the year you just let in humidity. Check outdoor humidity and also make sure dewpoint is low before throwing open doors and windows and letting fresh air in. --- In , " tigerpaw2c " <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: > > Mold in Homes > WCIA-3 News - IL* > Reported by: Cortney Hall > Tuesday, Jun 10, 2008 >
Guest guest
I think you are supposed to replace the air at least every few days. Unless it is like it was last week here on the east coast. Just what I thought I heard. I am not fond of too much air conditioning but do keep check on the humidity. >
