Guest guest
thanks for the info. it never truly seems to clear up honestly. it sort of goes into hiding and then sneaks right back out. but i will keep your situation in mind. they are testing my daughter for lyme's this week just to check. thanks. pk Re: HELP! Chronic SINUS infection/fever I used to get these and they were not viral. Do they clear up with antibiotics, at least while you are on them? If yes, they are bacterial and you are facing a serious bacterial infection. It took several months of multiple antibiotics to clear this up for me. I was later dx with lyme, bartonella and babesia on top of whatever infection I had in the past that was causing the sinus infection. Guest guest
This is just a thought. Have you tried LDN (Low dose Naltexone)? My son is on that now, and it's supposed to improve the immune system dramatically. If you want to learn more about it there's an online discussion group on Yahoo with Dr. McCandless; the site has files with the dosage information; My doctor ordered the prescription from Coastal Compounding. I'm also wondering if food allergies could be a contributing factor to the constant infections and possibly also the seizures. My son was sick constantly until we took him off dairy. this can mean allergies to foods or environment if you see it comeing and going, OLE has been known to help for many people in this case., if it's bacterial or viral it will also fight that Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwishes http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: HELP! Guest guest
haven't tried that yet. she's been tested for food/environment allergies and it came back normal. wondering if she does not have a milk allergy - will going casein free still help? i will definitely keep the LDN in mind. and the OLE. we're tight on funds so i think we'd have to start with the OLE and going casein free for now. thanks so much. pk Re: HELP! Guest guest
many regular allergy tests aren't going to show your problem, for example RAST tests (ped ones which are the common ones done by mainstream dr's) are only 40% accurate in foods. great for environmental though. having it read via skin on a 1-5 scale is best knowing all scores as well, most regular dr's will only tell you 5's. also there are food INTOLLERENCES which are IGG mediated and those are even MORE important in our kids, as that causes the behavioral issues, and then still yet opiate issues which are common with casein, soy, gluten and in some kids corn. these cause a high, the zoned, stoned approach and you commonly see withdraw with these kids like they are going off of drugs Recovering from Autism is a marathonNOT a sprint, but FULLY possible!Read more about it on my BLOGs athttp://www.myspace.com/christelkinghttp://foggyrock.com/MyPage/recoveringwisheshttp://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=677063169 Re: HELP! Guest guest
You are welcome! I agree with some other parents' comments about possibly increasing or changing the anti-bioitic, or taking other measures, to kill the virus out; I just wanted to add the comment about dairy in case that could contribute to the recurrence of the problem. Unless you got an IGG test you would not know if she had a food allergy or sensitivity, and there probably isn't a need to get the expensive test anyway -- you could just cut out dairy for a while and see if it makes a difference. You could even do a " challenge test " after she's dairy free for a while, by giving her a little dairy and see if there's a reaction (physical or behavioral.) Even if she isn't allergic, going casein-free could help your daughter in many ways. Many people see a dramatic reduction in " autistic " behavior after eliminating gluten or casein, since the undigested proteins from these foods can cause an " opiate effect " in the brain (making them spacey, etc.). A lot of people cannot adequately digest lactose or casein, and the poor digestion leads to problems in the gut, which, in turn, harms the immune system. I have a friend who put her autistic son on the gluten free / casein free diet for 6 months and did not see a change in his behavior, so she assumed he didn't have a problem with these foods, so she took him off the diet. Almost immediately he began having recurring ear infections and other illnesses, one after the other -- he got sick at least once every 3 weeks. It took her a while to connect the dots, but when she looked back at her notes, she realized that it was when he started back on dairy that these problems began. My son, who had constantly been sick, didn't get sick nearly as often after we went gf / cf. We also started supplements at the same time, which helped as well. One more comment about the LDN, should you consider it; it is pretty inexpensive, and if you don't have a DAN doctor, your regular doctor could call in a prescription to Coastal Compounding pharmacy -- Coastal will call you to get your credit card info and shipping address. I realize you have a much bigger fire to put out now -- I just wanted you to have this information just in case you want to look into LDN in the future. haven't tried that yet. she's been tested for food/environment allergies and it came back normal. wondering if she does not have a milk allergy - will going casein free still help? i will definitely keep the LDN in mind. and the OLE. we're tight on funds so i think we'd have to start with the OLE and going casein free for now. thanks so much. pk Re: HELP! Guest guest
good to hear the LDN isn't too pricey. i will look into that for the future. i did gluten free with my daughter for 6 months with no results. (i realize most people go GFCF.) i think i will try your challenge idea with casein and see what happens. thanks. pk Re: HELP!
