If you have new fiberboard furniture or are living in a new house with lots

of fiberboard or OSB you need to maintain a base level of ventilation to

avoid formaldehyde buildup.

A low cost HRV is the easiest way to do this. Of keep a window slightly

open. Mold is different. Burning eyes could be a formaldehyde issue. Many

new buildings, furniture, cannot be used by people with MCS for that reason.

The mold can trigger this off but once you have it, its hard to avoid the

problems with new furniture, especially. Keep windows open. Don't use AC

units that have drip pans or drill a hole in them to drain them out, then

dont use the 'moldy air' vent in them, use a separate outside air supply

like a slightly cracked window elsewhere. (or an HRV)

Old TVs are hard to clean.. many would say impossible. Be careful,

especially with the anode leading from the flyback transformer which can

hold a charge for weeks or even months. Discharge all capacitors to the

chassis with a grounded screwdriver before attempting to clean that area. ,

HEPA vacuming them is not enough.

Computers can be cleaned but its really hard. The worst parts are the CPU

heatsink and power supply. best to buy a new CPU heatsink, get a large low

tech aluminum one with spaces between the fins large enough to get a q-tip

in.

You can dip circuit boards in DISTILLED water and then dry them

immediately.. make sure to remove all batteries first. (like the lithium

hearing aid cell) Then agitate aggressively, then immediately dry in sun.

Make sure its completely dry before reconnecting anythng. Dont do that with

any fans, video cards, etc.

CPUs can be cleaned with 90% isopropyl alcohol (WEAR THICK GLOVES AS THIS

DISSOLVES MOLD TOXINS, you should also wear gloves even if you are only

working with the distilled water.)

You can use a commercial air compressor, outdoors, to clean things like

cases (not PC boards, just the metal CASES) by blasting the dirt off with

air, then power washing them, then leaving them in direct sun outdoors to

dry.

Wear a good N-100 or P-100 type mask - not just a disposable surgical mask-

and eye protection while doing this and make sure you are upwind of the

stuff you are working on. (use a wind sock made out of old video tape or

something)
