AID=/20080620/NEWS/80620042 Maine School Administrative District 71 Business Administrator Jim confirmed Friday that teachers from Middle School of the Kennebunks are being evaluated for exposure to mold. The school has been plagued with moisture problems since it opened. " I believe six teachers are being evaluated for exposure to mold. The teachers have requested this evaluation and the district has honored it, " said. said MSAD 71 is reimbursing teachers for co-pays related to the evaluation with Dr. Paris T. Mansmann, an allergist in Yarmouth. Mansmann did not return a message left Friday afternoon. again noted that it was the teachers who requested the evaluation, which was handled through the Facilities Committee and Superintendent Farrell. While noting the requests for evaluation had not been made public, he reiterated his belief that the district is diligently working on the mold problem. " The district is on top of issues at the Middle School. We have two companies evaluating and doing their best abatement of the situation. We don't want anyone to think we aren't trying to get this corrected. " Teachers representative McCarthy declined comment, preferring to first confer with MSAD 71 administration about the matter.
