While you are paraphrasing the author's message, you've added a little something that really improves on their words. I've never been able to figure out how to successfully communicate this idea to a population that can be very hypersensitive to any message that smacks of " just try harder " . It's just too risky, I've found. So, I just allow folks with a higher profile to share these ideas for me, as folks are often more receptive to a message when it comes from an established author/leader in the neurodiversity community.
