Guest guest
We have been doing Yasko's protocol for over 2 yrs. We dropped DAN! protocol when we began and followed it to the " T " . We have seen very nice things with it. First of all, his metal excretion exceeded that of IV chelation for my son.. Yasko recommends unprovoked random urine collections for UTM testing and my son dumped elevated mercury regularly for the past 2 yrs. We just did 6 IV's this summer to see what was " left " and he had very small pulls in both lead and mercury.. (though did pull a mercury in yellow on a random collection in btwn the IV's, lol). My DAN actually laughs that my son does better on random collections, than IV's! His testing, (UAA and MAP's) improved dramatically. For the first time in 5 yrs of testing, he showed NO NEED for all major supplement catagories, meaning he was finally utilizing what we were dumping into him. As for progress, well we have spent much of the past 2 yrs in pretty heavy detox. He has made steady and slow gains (though remains basically non verbal), but he looks good... very nice receptive, attention and focused in school, no behaviors, sleeps great, eats great... just severely cognitive delayed (and we have lots of awful stimming through the detox), but overall I am very happy with the foundation that Yasko has created. I think we were able to greatly reduce his toxicity levels. As for viral.. we are far from over there.. lots of work still to do. > > I just read Dr Amy Yasko's book > 'The Puzzle of Autism' > Putting it all together- > a guide to transforming > the treatment of autism' > It is a really good book. > It is an actual guide book. > I am curious who has > either followed her protocol > standards methods. > and /or has personally went > to her for office visits. > > ???? ~ >
Guest guest
Dr Yasko no longer sees patients. She felt she could help more people by writing her books, having a parent forum , continuing research and commenting on lab tests. Her protocol is very good but can also be expensive. It did help my son but we also use other interventions as well. Her extensive knowledge and research has helped many. I have read the puzzle of autism many times and still refer to it constantly. Guest guest
There are many on the list that are doing Yasko and many that are doing a combo with great success. As with any protocol, works great for some but not all kids. If any one person had the answer these lists wouldn't exist! Check out her forum at http:// www.ch3nutrigenomics.com/phpBB2/welcome.html Lots of great info and discussions. She doesn't personally see patients anymore which is why there is a forum. She is active on the forum. There are a few DANs that use Yasko. Dr. Mullan in Burbank does nothing but Yasko and Dr. West does Yasko, DAN and homeopathy. I don't know of any others in SoCal that do Yasko but there might be more. Guest guest
We have been following Dr. Yasko's protocol for about 2.5 years now. It has been a really long journey but we have seen amazing results. Unfortunately we originally took about 90 supplements a day and after a while it really started to wear on the old pocketbook. spent between $600-$800 per month and sometimes more when we did the testing. We still follow her protocol for the most part but have drastically cut back on the volume of supplements. Not just because of the cost but because they are pretty nasty stuff for a kid that won't swallow capsules and I would spend about 2 hours doing my own compounding for the weeks worth of supplements. I use a base such as Klaire Labs Vita Spectrum and then add another 10-20 or so supplements daily....WHEW it is very time consuming and very expensive. It definitly took a while to get all of the methylation supplements in and we saw months of detox before we saw any progress. Dr. Amy will answer questions on this forum as well. She no longer sees patients face to face but personally goes over each test and writes her comments and suggestions on them. Guest guest
Oh, thank you. that is very helpful. I looked under supplements not the alphabetical list, I thought it would be the same. Guest guest
Hi Merry, I live in Orange County and have been seeing a doctor named Kaslow there for my son for about 2 years (he was first diagnosed with moderate ASD 3 years ago). I had another DAN doctor before that who was terrible and the results were also discouraging. Dr. Kaslow has nearly recovered my son, with active research on my side to push us farther and faster. My son will lose his diagnosis this year and probably have it replaced with ADD. Dr Kaslow is not a DAN doctor, but does many of the DAN protocols, plus a whole lot more...he is superb. He is a board-certified immunologist, specializing in holistic approaches to addressing immune and metabolic disorders. One of his specialties is in recoverying ASD kids. A long waiting list, but well worth it (; www.drkaslow.com).He has recovered many kids in the Orange County area. We had done some limited genetic testing 2 years ago with Kaslow that was helpful. I started to look into Yasko 6 months ago because I had heard a lot of good things and was looking for a way to more precisely fine tune his supplements to address core issues. We did the Yasko nutrigenomics test and found out a lot of interesting things that have resulted in new approaches, fine tuning, and great gains. Really neat stuff. We do not follow Yasko to the " T " , but build on the foundation that Kaslow already laid. I like Kaslow because he uses alot of instrumentation in house to guide his treatment protocols and get instant feedback from visit to visit, without expensive testing everytime. IMO, the Yasko protocol is expensive to implement as suggested and more difficult now that she doesn't see patients...I can see that if you really follow it, it could give great results. However, I think a reasonable option is to find a really good doctor that helps you address some of the core issues, and use the basics of the Yasko protocol to fine tune the knowledge and approach of the doctor. Think of Yasko as a way of cutting out the guess work by having genome info to guide which pathways need to be best supplemented. This is working well with Kaslow. There are some other good DAN docs in the LA area, though I personally don't have experience with any one else. Dr. Mullen apparently inmplements Yasko..you can find her contact info on the www.tacanow.org website.
