I love this product................contains xylitol which works as a laxative and has the beneficial bacteria to replenish and balance gut flora. This product is wonderful. This is what we used in lieu of PEG http://kirkmanlabs.com/ProductKirkman/184/1/Pro-BioandChewableWafers/ I also like this product but you are not suppose to take with PEGhttp://www.shaklee.com/products.php?sku=20144 To: "miralax " <miralax >Sent: Tue, June 5, 2012 12:32:16 PMSubject: Re: Did a course of antibiotics precede constipation?

I was prescribed antibiotics when I was nursing my son -- he developed constipation shortly thereafter!

Of course, I didn't make the connection til much later but the fact that you bring it up makes me seriously

consider that it was a factor...

Did anyone experience the onset of constipation in your child during or following a course of antibiotics? I would guess that most doctors do not tell parents to supplement with probiotics during and after a course of antibiotics. Antibiotics will wipe out probiotics and cause an imbalance in the gut flora. Treating with PEG will not improve this underlying condition and may cause it to worsen.
