Guest guest
sound familiar? this is an old post I wanted to share about what this med did to the brain........... My daughter is 7 1/2 and has been off of Miralax for maybe 2 years now. She was on it from the time she was about 2 until she was 5 1/2 (guessing ages). Before Miralax she was the sweetest thing. On Miralax (8-17g day) she became a mess. She was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder, and we sought therapy once it started interrupting with her normal life...se refused to go outside because there were flies and bees and various other bugs outside. She chews her nails and fingers to the point they hurt. Sucks on her arms causing "hickie" bruises and has begun scratching herself on her arms or legs with what little finger nails she has left. She can be very abnoxious making noises and can't seem to regulate her volume when speaking. She is moody and at times comes across as depressed. She has become phobic of dogs and at times of one of our cats. She was perfect before the Miralax. We pulled her off due to these symptoms and switched her to Colace and then her constipation was gone and she is on nothing. How do I heal her neurologically? ?? She had a 3 days 2 weeks ago where she was perfect again and wonderful and that glimpse of the REAL her was breathtaking. But then it was gone and it saddens me, because I know this is tearing her up inside feeling like this and not being able to control it. Her anxiety is starting to interfere with her daily life again and the last thing I want to do is have to medicate her so she can really LIVE. Anyone know how to go about healing her body from this?? Guest guest
This is so sad.. After the first time my son had been " cleaned out " in the hospital he was then put on the Miralax. He had always been such a calm, pleasant baby and toddler. He was just 3 when they first started him on that poison. We always joked that if all kids were like him we would all have 20! Anyway, once we got home and he was on the daily dose he was so hyper and we kept thinking that he was just feeling better and that's why he was so crazy. Then he started being mean and throwing fits---he had NEVER thrown a fit before---we still thought that maybe he was just hitting the terrible 2's late because he was feeling better now We tried to send him to pre-school when he was four and he ended up throwing his pencil at the teacher in a fit of rage---he also was extremely frustrated all the time... again, he had NEVER displayed any of these behaviors prior to being on Mirlalax.... well, skip to last year --over 4 yrs. later---when we finally realized he needed to be off the Miralax. He was having tremors in his hands--often telling me that his hand was moving by itself also severe headaches, has sensory issues and still has outbursts of anger and has anxiety... we have been working on this and it's getting better but I really don't think we'll ever know what he could have been like prior to taking that horrible stuff!
