hi

i have had glasses/ contacts since 2nd grade.

hashis/hypot by 13. etc

2012

when thinking about the eyes; think about the liver (as in TCM and the " zang fu "

systems :)

and think about your stress system

why?

--- cuz both liver and our brain/body's stress system deal with and work with

our sugar-regulation system. (remember the LIVER makes and stores our 'storage

form' of blood sugar btw!)

and the stress/HPA Axis hormone called Vasopressin not only is our water balance

hormone and a stress hormone that tells the adrenal glands to make cortisol,,

but when we are sleeping at night Vasopressin rises (so we don't have to wake up

to pee :)

and Vasopressin also tells our liver to release its storage form of 'blood

sugar'

so that we don't have hypOglycemia attacks in the middle of the night

= better sleep.

====

all the above being overworked

also uses up our Nutrients (both macro and micro)

including Vit Bs (the Usable types/forms)

and so at the cellular level... these things also affecvt our eyes..

1 example :)

that doctors never talk about

when we go into 'stress mode'

aka 'survival mode'

the CNS sends messages to the eyes

to Open as wide as possible and see as much as area as possible..

doesn't care about 'fine details'

just trying to see where the sabre tooth tiger is

and at the same time

spot an escape route :0

...no 'regular' doctors think like that

but that is WHY we hashis/hypot patinets have this problem

NOTE: Autoimmune thryoid antibodies do affect eye tissue

but at the same time they are also massively affecting the CNS and 'stress

system " ..

all inter-related

check out 'Adrenal Fatiuge' (including HIGH cortisol stages)

and saliva testing and AF diet

PLUS

methylation/sulfation and Supplement /nutrition based on Testing.

(new area of science that 99% of the " thyroid world " does not yet know

and ofcourse the Thyroid tests and Autoimune tests and diet changes (

NOTE:

avoid all wheat gluten --and DAIRY for now.

regards

-Carol

optometrist and doctor the following text, but I'd like to include something

substantial for them to refer to, to back up my suspicion that this is all

thyroid related...

had many headaches but got through it. I have worn them consistently every day

until yesterday, by the way, just as you suggested.

sight was nothing like it had been, before the Rx. I've been feeling like as

long as I hold completely still, I can sort of focus on things, but as soon as I

move my head, things are distorted.

sunglasses as well, and those have been even harder to wear, but I've suspected

the polarization might be the difference there...?

them. After 1 1/2 hr of sleeping, I got up and forgot my glasses.

Surprisingly, I was able to focus so easily that I didn't realize I was missing

my glasses for at least 30 minutes. Is there a good explanation for why, after

14 days, I can see better without this Rx than with it?

>

look up to see a digital clock 10 feet away I can't even force my eyes to focus.

>

which I suspect is caused by hashimoto's thyroiditis. Do you have any

thoughts/experience with this? I know when I seem to be having a flare up, I

have a slew of symptoms, often including blurred vision and dry eyes. Two

months ago, my sight was way worse than it was when I saw you this month. I've

had optometrists suggest in the past that the thyroiditis can cause problems

with my eyes.

should come in for a follow up exam to see if I test differently...? I have not

yet contacted my primary doc with this eyesight issue, but can if you suggest.

Or can you forward this to him or consult if appropriate?

> I've been all over the place with my eyes in the past few months- there are

times when I have to stretch my eye lids to the sides, looking ridiculous, just

to focus on the road ahead of me. NOT what I say is safe, especially with three

kids in the car. Night driving has been out of the question for days at a time.

Dry eyes make it totally hard to function (could that simply be the cause?). I

finally gave in and got an appt with an optometrist, but by the time I got in,

my sight had improved somewhat from the days that I was worried about driving.

Three weeks later and two weeks of wearing a new Rx I feel like this Rx which

was helpful is now totally wrong. They actually worked better for me a week

ago. (I've never worn glasses, only reading glasses for the past 2 years... I'm

41). Fortunately I have a 90 day guarantee on the Rx so I can get it changed at

no cost to me. I just feel like my eyes are a moving target right now.

hi jen,

i found out in 2006 that i had elevated antibodies. i have had symptoms of

hashimotos most, if not all, of my life.

since i've been on thyroid meds my vision is clearer. i can read again without

reading glasses and my night vision is also improved. i'm glad that you

mention it coz i didn't do any research on it, but now i'm happy to know why.

i have the problem you describe.

(and i Had autoimune thyroid signs and symptoms but cured now -

the thyroid and immune system and our 'stress system'( including HPA axis and

its hormones and sugar handling system)

all can affect the eyes, both vision and the muscles parts etc

nerves etc and cells and biochemistry which make up all the 'parts'.

btw

i am not surprised your eye DR would say that autoimmune thyroid disease only

affects the eyes' of Grave's patients..

no regular doctors know much about us.

medical schools are decades behind where they should be

helping your 'adrenal fatigue' /stress system )HPA Axis

and your thyroid levels

and your nutrition

and your biochemistry (espeically methylation and sulfation)

and the Gut-health

all helps the eyes/vision problems.

\

yes this does take time and consistent effort
