Guest guest
Hi - we had a link to the chart Lois is referring to in our Links section previously - I will update it now. Here it is: http://thyroid.about.com/library/drugs/blconversionchart.htm I don't take natural thyroid, but 5 grains sounds like a lot compared to the T4 equivalent. > > > > Hello all, > > > > I have a couple questions. Was on T4 for maybe a year and a half now and I think that is what caused the thyroid to swell up. TPO is 3 times normal. Major problems. Dumped the T4 and am now going up on the grains of natural thyroid and wanted to ask those of you who have experienced this condition at what level (number of grains) of natural thyroid and how long it took to get the thyroid to return to normal (if it does)? Trying to get an appointment to discuss this with the doctor but I am guessing he probably will not like what I am doing. I am taking 5 grains now (3 in morning and 2 after lunch). As I worked up, the thyroid is shrinking but it is still swollen. I am looking for information and experience (hopefully first hand) to relate to and build a case with the doctor. I would like to get this solved if it can be solved. > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks for the chard . I am actually following the process to try and stop the attack on the thyroid. From what I read, that involves going up on the thyroid meds until the symptoms stop. That can go to 3-5 grains or even higher. I have gone up to 3 grains 2 times a day now and the swelling is down a lot. The pain is greatly reduced too. Have an appointment to get more tests and discuss the situation with the doctor after July 4. I have no new ill affects at being on 6 grains at this time. My guess is that I have adrenal fatigue and will discuss this with the doctor. In the mean time, I may try dropping down to maybe 4 grains and see if the problem occurs again or the swelling stays down. That is why my original posting to the list asked for responses for those who had a similar experience. > > > > > > Hello all, > > > > > > I have a couple questions. Guest guest
Hello Lois, From what I read, it seems that there is a pretty good percentage of people on T4 (synthroid) only who end up having it cause Hashimotos. Reading that information and switching to natural thyroids and increasing the dose is one way they have found that many times stops the antibody attack. I just tried it. I still have swelling but nothing near what I had. Is it gone? Not yet but I have only been at the present level for a couple days. I still have energy ups and downs but I would say right now that I am better than I was. I will be seeing the doctor next week and hope I don't snow him with the data and the results. I am hope to get referred to someone who knows what to do. I also need some additional tests (never done before) to see what is going on. Right now I am just trying to hold my own. > > > > > > > > > > Hello all, > > > > > > > > > > I have a couple questions. Guest guest
Hello BJ, Sounds like you have had a hard time. When you switched to gluten-free, did you do everything all at once or switch over gradually? Did you find that you had to make all of your own food or did you find a good source of gluten-free food? I have thought about this and check the local store. Living rural, there is not a lot of selection but we live near some senior villages so I am guessing that there may be a lot of seniors who are on gluten-free. Also, how fast did your symptoms go away after switching to gluten-free? > > > > > > > > > > Hello all, > > > > > > > > > > I have a couple questions.
