basement bathroom- safe walls and flooring

I was wondering if anyone knows what would be the safest and

healthiest material to use for the walls of a bathroom and the floors

of a bathroom in the basement. Four years ago we moved into a 50 year

old house. We remodeled the upstairs and I got quite sick even though

we used low voc paint etc. We tool all the rugs out and put laminate

floors and painted and put new windows. Some of the stuff was ok the

other things like caulking and low and latter zero VOC paint began to

bother me so much I ended up living in a camper for a few years and

wearing a mask for quite a while till I could handle it. We were

changing careers and were still students so money limited us from

going further as well. Now we are trying to finish the basement

because we are having people moving in to live there and help me with

all my sicknesses. We originally tore the sheet rock off, the vinyl

floors, the bathtub, toilet and sink. Now we are trying to figure out

what type of material we could put on the walls that would be

effective towards the effects of water and steam and what could we

put up around the tub. We do not know whether to do a shower stall or

a claw tub. I cannot handle mold or chemicals which makes it quite

hard. Anyone know where I could look on the net for info? We know

sheet rock if full of formaldehyde. Not sure where to start. Any

ideas?
