Guest guest
Hello, I have written before as I am new to the group and had no clue where to get information. My 5 year old grandson Darren was diagnosed with chiari a year ago. Thanks so very much to all who wrote back and for all the wonderful information you provided me with that I could pass on to my daughter and son-in-law April and ny Stricklin. They live in Benton Mississippi. I live in Oklahoma City OK. They are about an hour north of MS and about 7 miles east of Yazoo City. My daughter has finally gotten her email straightened out and would like to become a member. Her email address is ams@.... Her name is April Stricklin and her husbands name is ny. Their little boy is Darren . She is still searching for answers and any information she could get a hold of. Darren's doctor is not too , although he has gotten better since Darrens last visit. I am having trouble getting my emails through and cannot post anything to the group. I don't know what I am doing wrong. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? I thought by registering, I could participate, but for some reason, it is not working. Darren gave us quite a scare last week. He was in his bed for the night and just as his mother went in to check on him, he met her coming around the corner. She asked him what was wrong and he told her his head hurt terribly bad and that it felt funny. Well she figured he meant he was dizzy as he told her he felt round. She asked him if he felt like he was going around in circles and he said yes. She set him up on the cabinet and asked him to show her where his head hurt. He told her that his eye had sharp pains in it and as he was talking to her, he closed his eyes, passed out and fell backwards. It was all she could do to catch him before his head hit the wall. He came right out of it, but he continued to have pains in his eye and head. she called the emergency number. They told her to watch him the rest of the night and to call his pediatrician in the morning. She did, the pediatrician was not in, she had to see a substitute. He wasen't at all familiar with Darren or the Chiari. When she was finally able to get a hold of the nsg, they decided that he should be brought in ahead of his scheduled appt date of Jul 16. Darren went to see Dr. Veda this past Tuesday. The doctor was better informed this time. He did a little bit of explaining, but then stated that he did not think the Chiari was responsible for Darren's episode. He told April that if Darren was to have another episode of seizure activity to call him and he would meet them at the emergency room. Unfortunately, since they are an hour away, the episode would in most likelihood be over, however, I guess the doctor could note some differences at that time. Darren goes to see an eye surgeon next week for the pain in his eyes. Sorry this is so long winded. I just felt I needed to get this off my chest and to ask for help to be a more active member. Thank you so much, God bless everyone, Darren's (Nana Carolyn) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ eGroups.com home: /group/chiari - Simplifying group communications
