I can't understand why she would think we would not

put ourselves out there. You're right. If not us,who?

I think we all are in the situation we are, because

our conscience dictates it to be so. We know who is

around us and what their capabilities are, and use

that understanding of the situation to guide our

decisions. You ask who I want to take care of me when

I'm in the same situation and need care? I actually

feel very fortunate to have 3 out of my 5 kids helping

take care of my MIL. There isn't much they won't do

when it needs to be done. I might be the ringleader

here, but I have plenty of help. Through this

experience, they are learning compassion and

fortitude. I fully expect them to make the right

decision for me, when I can't make it for myself. Do I

want them to give up their lives and care for me, as

we are for my MIL? NO. I do not wish to burden my

children and not allow them to lead normal lives. Do I

think they will do it anyway? YES. I think they are

made of the same fiber I am made from, and will do

what's necessary, if it becomes necessary. My job

then, is to live the healthiest life I can lead and

hope to never have to rely on them. I guess by caring

for myself, I am also being their caregiver by not

putting myself in a situation that would require their

assistance, if possible. I think your counselor needs

to get a better perspective on what we do, and why we

do it. Obviously she doesn't have a clue!
