Changing your diet is incredibly difficult. Food is so wrapped up in

our personality. It is psychological comfort as well as sustenance. I

know a lot of people who would rather die than change their diet and

probably a lot of them will (die)...:-)

May I suggest a multistep process:

1. Read about the diets. Compare and contrast what they are saying.

Look at your own diet and see how far off yours is compared to the ideal

diet they recommend.

2. Begin to modify your diet a little at a time. Maybe you can drop

dairy easily. Maybe you can add liquid greens easily. As you drop and

add foods you can get used to new tastes and will crave old foods less.

3. Look for substitutes. There are a lot of gluten free foods for

example that you can eat inplace of the regular foods. Consider the

cost of replacements.

4. No cheating. One of the biggest problems people have with new diets

is that they are on them only 80% of the time and they cheat regularly.

This truly defeats the purpose of the diet. Give yourself some time but

once you have made the transition, stay true to your diet. Only then

can you tell if it works.

5. Listen to your body. Over time you can tell if your diet is

agreeing with your body or not. Expect some cleansing reactions. Not

every day will go well for you, but if your diet is right for you, you

should see improvements each week. Those successes will tell you if you

are on the right path or not.

Finally, remember, you are looking for what works for you and you alone.

What works for others is no guarantee. If you have honestly tried a

diet and see no results, don't despair. Go back to step one and try

another diet regime.

Good Luck!

Tom Nesler

Thank You

I just want to thank everyone for their advice and support. I too

lost people after I was diagnosed. Friends quit calling me, and

I've felt for the past couple years that it's not even worth talking

about. I don't even tell people that I have it anymore. I hate the

awkwardness behind it. I realize it's up to me to learn more and

all that I can, and also that everyone's symptoms are different, but

can anyone tell me the very best alternative therapy that seems to

conquer relapses.. It's so weird, I can go months feeling fine,

then something happens. I know I need to get off my rump and

exercise, but is there truly a perfect diet to try?? I feel like

changing my eating habits to try, let's say the " raw foods " diet is

just a bit too radical. Do all of you believe that it could truly

be dairy?? Cheese, yogurt, milk?? Is that what I have to subtract

from my daily regimen of foods? Red meat too??? I just don't know

what's best. My old neurologist said that there was no proof it was

the foods we eat.. I don't necessarily believe that though. This

entire country is sick and overweight. My family is too, cancers,

fibromayalgia, cycstic fibrosis, diabetes.. It's sickening. We're

all sick!! Please tell me if you think it could be the environment,

or is it the foods we take in??

Hi!

I think the most important single thing an MSer can do is go on the Best

Bet Diet. It somewhat resembles the Swank diet, but is much more strict.

Even so, if an MSer can stick to it religiously, I think it will be

tremendously helpful in most cases. For more information, visit

http://www.ms-diet.net/msdiet/faq/index.php

There are number of other non-dietary strategies that can also be

attempted, like LDN, glyconutrients, and colloidal silver. For more

information about these and other possibilities, visit

All the best,

Hi,

I am at a Wellness Conference right now and the answer to your

questions about environment and diet is YES. Order a book called " how

to survive a toxic plant " its written by Dr. Nugent. you can

get it at www.dbsxpress.com I have been listening to him speak this

weekend and he talks alot about how our environement is killing us. I

am also learning about water and I have been drinking R/O water and

now the test show people who drink R/O water and distilled water are

losing bone density like crazy even if they supplement. the water

without minerals aparently pulls minerals from the body. I have a very

expensive R/O system and now realize its not best for me.

As far as your diet, just think about getting it as close to natural

as possible. Things that are fresh, not perserved, or cooked. Dairy is

pasturized which is dead food, unless you buy raw, organic, its not

good. Our ancestors ate about 1% grain diet and we now eat almost all

grain diets, you will do better with no grains, but at least cut down.

Just start somewhere. I spent about a year changing my diet and I am

still far from perfect, but I now feel great also. I am traveling

right now and its really hard to eat good when away from home but I am

doing ok. When I get back I will link info to a company that sells

great water systems for those interested, their technology is

amazing.gotta go .

Ron,

This is wonderful news and I'm so glad that your mom got to talk to Sandie. I

know I always feel swell after talking to Sandie so I'm sure it had a

restorative effect on your mom too.

Keeping my fingers crossed that the move to 's will go smoother in the

future.

Courage

Thank you
