I've noticed that a lot of the folks I've met with Hashimoto's have had problems with their tonsils and/or ears. Many of them have had tonsillectomies. I checked online and it looks like there are several studies linking tonsil problems, hearing problems etc. with Celiac disease and Hashimoto's. It makes sense to me that the tonsils and ears might be affected by thyroid problems as they're so close to each other. Is this something that others have noticed? Guest guest
Oh how weird! I had my tonsils out when I was maybe 4 yrs old and had tubes in my ears around the same age then diagnosed as hypothyroid about 11yrs. Then everything went haywire as an adult & was diagnosed with Hashi's and thyroid damage. I still have tons of hearing problems. Some related to volume and part where I can't understand what someone is saying unless they speak clearly. It drives me crazy. I can understand some people just fine, others talk facing away from you and I can't understand them or they mumble. I would love to see these studies if anyone can find links for them. Guest guest
it was long known that hypothyrodism (and yes hashis folks included) are more likely to have what was called " upper respiratory " problems which the way the literature talked,, included not just our Sinuses but also inner-ears and eustachean tubes, and throat issues tonsils and swollen glands... fwiw: ? i think: mentioning how you have trobule understanding/hearing some people's words but not others.. i have this also. comes and goes its related to how the stress 'system' is upregulated chronically. aka " Adrenal Fatigue but the Real accurate meaning behind the term AF.. affects stress hormones (all10+ have receptors in all of our 'senses' btw) eyes ears balance BaroREceptors etc but also our Nervous systems SNS and PNS far more complex and interconnected. you might want to hear/read DR STeven? Porges work on the Longest nerve in the body is NOT in the spinal cord but is the main PNS nerve (and yes its branches wrap around our Thyroid gland on the way from brain and cranium areas down neck past heart to digestive tract and reproductive organs.. ~he does not have Every aspect of his work quite right /accurate but then not even the good thyroid doctors do either. > > > > > Oh how weird!
