Try These Clean Up Tips Monday, 09 Jun 2008 MyFox Kansas City - Kansas City,MO* Wet basement in Kansas City, Kansas Kansas City News http://www.myfoxkc.com/myfox/pages/News/Detail? contentId=6725090 & version=2 & locale=EN-US & layoutCode=TSTY & pageId=3.2.1 If your home is flooded, be careful about the cleanup. If you're able to clean flooded areas in three to four days, you lower your chances of damage and mold forming. When there is mold, it is usually necessary to rip out drywall and wood if there are large amounts of mold. If you do get mold growth, do not use bleach to clean or kill it. Use products like Kilz, which you spray on the area or even paint it on, and it kills the mold. Also, if the mold is severe, call an inspector to do a mold clearance test to make sure that mold spores are not present. Mold can be a problem to those with sensitivity or allergies, but mold only affects people because of the spores it puts out.
