Guest guest
The question came up on another thread, but I figured I'd post with its own header--you can get fabric softener out of clothes by washing them with powdered milk. I used most of a medium-size box for one load, then washed on hot with detergent after that. That slimy chemical feeling was gone, and my youngest doesn't get hives from the clothes anymore. The clothes were hand-me-downs from a friend and I tried EVERYTHING else to get the fabric softener out, so I can tell you that vinegar, baking soda, Borax, and washing 8x on hot won't do it! I don't know why powdered milk works, and I'm not sure if I used more than necessary. It's a trick my Mom passed on from a friend with EI.
