Tonsillitis and Hashimoto's - are they related?

I've noticed that a lot of the folks I've met with Hashimoto's have had problems

with their tonsils and/or ears. Many of them have had tonsillectomies. I checked

online and it looks like there are several studies linking tonsil problems,

hearing problems etc. with Celiac disease and Hashimoto's. It makes sense to me

that the tonsils and ears might be affected by thyroid problems as they're so

close to each other. Is this something that others have noticed?
