Guest guest
I am happy that there will be another meeting. I feel badly for you. The school district is playing games with you if this meeting was unathorized with no one who deals with your child present!! This is ridiculous!!! There have been many comments that I have been wanting to make, however, they are too contraversial for the internet. I homeschool, manily because of these problems. I was tired of my child being " too difficult " to put into a nice neat box. I did not like the games that I needed to play and the hoops that I had to jump through! Our children pose problems for the education system because they have unusual needs and abilities. I wish you well on your next IEP meeting. We will be praying that Tyler's educational needs will be fulfilled to his needs!! Irene in TX mom to the Gunnels 6! Update: Tyler's IEP Well, I just got off the phone with the Director of Special Education for Tyler's school district. I could not believe what I was told. The chairperson from Tyler's IEP meeting the other day was not a representative from our district. In fact, no one from our district knew about the meeting. They have it down that the meeting is on June 2. They will not accept anything from the meeting I just had and they are calling Tyler's school now to find out why they had a meeting for him and did not tell them. When I informed them of what went on in the meeting, they said they will help me find another school for Tyler. They will get back to me some time next week. A few other things I remember now that I have calmed down a bit, the speech therapist said that Tyler was very congested, that he may have allergies or need tubes. I guess she did not read his IEP from last year since it states that he has severe nasal allergies and that he had tubes in his ears 3 times. He goes on 2 different types of allergy medication in the spring and it is still not enough. He still gets the stuffy, runny nose but at least it does not build up and cause the problems that he has had in the past. I will keep you all informed about what is happening. Guest guest
So it is in District 2's best interest to keep him in Spirit 1 so he regresses and they keep getting money! Isn't it funny how it all comes down to the almighty dollar - NOT the best interest of your child? Darlene > That is what happens when you have 2 school districts, I will call > them district 1 & 2. Guest guest
Debbie This " never ending saga " is just crazy! I know that Green was going to pipe in here as soon as she got the moment, because she had some real good successes in her district and actually got rid of the fully contained class in her school! So...... we are all waiting !! LOL Debbie, do you have a plan of action on what you are doing next? I know I have read all kinds of advice, so I was wondering if you had an idea yet on what you were going to do to help this chaos? Kristy Debbie wrote: Just what I was thinking!!! Guest guest
I would strongly advise you to locate the parent training center for your state. They will be able to advise you on what the state laws and regulations are. It sounds to me like this school is in violation of IDEA. They also should send an advocate with you to your next meeting, but in order to do that you need to contact them as soon as possible. Sorry your dealing with this, it's terrible that on top of everything else we have to become sp ed law experts. good luck Jo Ann > > Well, I just got off the phone with the Director of Special Education > for Tyler's school district.
