Guest guest
it's freat that you are getting some medical help so fast after your exposure, the fstique may be a matabolism disorder. your in the stage right now where the body is adjusting to life away from the contaminated building and you may experience many strange effects, sometimes called unmasking. your immune system has been suppressed during your exposure. have you been tested for mold allergies? you may have become hyper-reactive to molds/myco's and other chemicals.it's a good sign that the brain fog has cleared some, but it may really help if you avoid scented things such as perfumes.colones,ect. and chemicl products like cleaning products. it takes awhile for your body to get back to somekind of normalty where you start reconizeing the things that cause a reaction to your system so the faster you start advoidance of all of these possable reactors, the better. than you can reintroduce things one at a time to srr if you can tolerate them or not. these thing will totally control how you fell. the mack truck felling is nerve effects and many chemicals and pathogens/toxins can cause flairups/affacts. I know people dont like hearing that they have to rid their home of all scented and chemical products but it's really the first thing you need to do. even shapoo's, laundry soap's,ect. MO PLUG IN'S. sorry that you have been exposed at work and now your whole family needs to help you by changeing their lifestyles to help you. depending on how bad you have suffered organ damage, doing this now well help you has a chance to heal. there is a level where you can possably heal of you take these steps now to practice advoidence you atleast give yourself that chance. weather you will heal completely or not I dont know, it depends or the level of damage. wash your sinuses twice a day, avoid outside when the air smells moldy. wear a mask and gloves in the garden, avoid it when it smells musky/mildewy and even or wery dry windy days. hate to tell you to give that up completely but maybe you can get family to do most of it. shower and wash sinuses afterwards. your whole family needs to be aware that smell that they are exposed to attach to their cloths and can be affecting you and believe me, those smells do rub off on funiture, blankets, ect. basicly, rightnow, and for alest awhile, the more you can advoid mold and chemicals the better you wull fell and give your body a chance to heal. hope this helps. I know it's alot to lay on you, dont panic over it. just tell your family that they are all going natural and green and chemical frreif you have teenagersm hopefully you have a second bathroom (vented) close to the back door or something and make them clean it. sorry, but you do have to put alot of thought into this. even hugging someone with perfume on makes it rub off on you and you take it home. if the kids have to wear it, make them pit it on their cloths nit their bodies and they can change their clothes at home and put them in a bag or something. Guest guest
Hi and everyone else too, I'm kind of new to mold related illness too... I've been suffering with symptoms since December... In February I had to leave my office and haven't been well enough to return... After a multitude of doctor visits and many test that really didn't give us any answers a university doctor finally told me that my symptoms are consistant with mold exposure... but also she told me that there aren't any tests to confirm her diagnosis and that there wasn't any treatment either. I'm positive that the exposure is due to my office... They had a very leaky roof for many years... I'm looking for some direction... I need to find a doctor who is knowledgeable and knows how to find out what toxins are distroying my body and how best to treat me... Also I need to know what I should do to help my fellow emplyoee's... And how to get financial help until I'm well enough to find another job. it sounds like to you have found some doctors who have been willing to work with you to get some answers... I live in the Northeast Philly area... Could you please ask your doctors if they know of anyone in my area that is knowledgeable about mold illness? Any advise from anyone will be greatly appreicated. Thanks (in advance) Bonnie
Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Sorry you are not feeling well. I found one of my doctors on www.mold- help.org website. There is a list of recommended Physicians on there and they are listed by state. The doctor I found on the site is Dr. Wellington Tichner who is an environmental ENT in NYC. I really feel good about him. He is very knowledgable about toxic mold issues. He not only treats my symptoms but is very helpful at giving me some insight into things I should know about mold. But he only treats the sinus part. I am also seeing Dr. Zienuk for the pulmonary piece of this. He to is very helpful and knowledgeable about toxic mold as well. He has referred me to other doctors to find out about the other peices of my mold exposure puzzle. Since you were exposed at work, did you file for worker's compensation? That might be a way to help you financially. I don't know the time frame you have to file within, but it might be a good irea for you to look into it. I filed when I realized I was sick from exposure at work and they have established my case in court. Now I have my medical covered and I will get paid a % of my salary if I am out for any extended amount of time. I am still working at the college. My employer has moved me into another building to accomodate the needs in my doctor's note. I really can't afford financially to leave my job so I am hoping they will continue to accomadate me. You should look at the website (www.mold-org.cm) it has a lot of information. It has been helpful to me. It sounds like you are on the feeling very overwhelmed , like me. I feel like I am understanding some of this on an academic level, but on a deeper level I am overwhelmed and it feels not real yet. I guess I am morning my health, the stages of grief. At least we both found this group and we know we are not the only ones with this horrible illness. Be well and good luck on finding a doctor. --- In , " bonniel215 " <bonniel215@...> wrote: > > Hi and everyone else too, > > I'm kind of new to mold related illness too... Guest guest
Thank you for all the information. I haven't been tested yet for mold allergies, my ENT will be doing that eventually. But I know I am allergic to mold because as a child I suffered from very bad asthma. The only 3 things that would trigger it were mold, cats and ragweed. I have been symmptom free for over 22 years. But I imagine that that is why I was more suseptible then my officemate. She is not sick at this time, which is so strange to me since I feel so lousy. But she is still in the toxic building. Hopefully she won't get sick. I have a friend who also was exposed to mold and just tonight told me the same thing about getting rid of all my scented things. It makes me sad but I will go green. It also makes me really scared because I have three teenage boys that play lots of sports....some days febreeze was the only thing that saved me during the carpool ride:) Now with the summer heat.....Oh well ala natural it is. I will try anything even suffering through the ode of locker room from my sons after a hard work out. But seriously, I appreciate your helpful tips. And I never thought that gardening could be bad. I wear gloves but not a mask. I really love my gardens. I have a bunch of flowers and vegies growing all around my acre property. This is all so sad. I also camp and hike, I guess that is going to be a challenge as well. Well I will cross that bridge when I get there. Thank you again. > > it's freat that you are getting some medical help so fast after your > exposure, the fstique may be a matabolism disorder. your in the stage > right now where the body is adjusting to life away from the > contaminated building and you may experience many strange effects, > sometimes called unmasking. your immune system has been suppressed > during your exposure. have you been tested for mold allergies? > you may have become hyper-reactive to molds/myco's and other > chemicals.it's a good sign that the brain fog has cleared some, but > it may really help if you avoid scented things such as > perfumes.colones,ect. and chemicl products like cleaning products. > it takes awhile for your body to get back to somekind of normalty > where you start reconizeing the things that cause a reaction to your > system so the faster you start advoidance of all of these possable > reactors, the better. than you can reintroduce things one at a time > to srr if you can tolerate them or not. these thing will totally > control how you fell. the mack truck felling is nerve effects and > many chemicals and pathogens/toxins can cause flairups/affacts. Guest guest
Hi Bonnie, Do not listen to your Doc when they say there is no treatment for toxic mold exposure. Anti fungal medication and cholestyramine are commonly prescribed as treatment for toxic mold exposure. I would suggest getting on these meds asap as your body will not naturally remove these toxic substances on its own. And in fact the longer you have these toxins in your body the worse you will get. I would tell your co-workers to get the hell out of there if indeed there is toxic mold present. This stuff is too dangerous to be around while you wait for someone else to help you. Guest guest
unlees your liver and immune system is dead and you are dead, your body will still remove these toxins from your body, otherwise many of us would be long gone by now. your not going to die if you dont get antifungals and csm asap. getting out and staying out is the first step. until you find a doctor to prescribe antifungals and csm, advoidance of molds and chemicals is important. some people do get better just by getting away from the contaminated building, it depends on how bad it was and how bad it injured you. there are many levels of exposure and damage.the level of organ damage is done while your exposed, everthing after that and after getting out is a lesser degree of exposure, hopefully, and you dont suffer more damage after getting out but if you have become hyper senative or hyper reactive to nolds and chemicals those things well keep your symptoms aggervated and keep you felling bad. getting sinus cultures done amd a good sinus washing and tested for allergies might be some things you can work on doing while looking for a doctor that can treat you. it's hard to know just how injured or what a person needs to do when they dont describe what symptoms they are haveing. some people well not not a doctor to even talk to them about mold exposure let alone give them antifungals and csm, not everyone can afford to get to a specialest and not everyone may need too. Guest guest
Thanks for the help , I'll check out that site. I have a workmen's comp lawyer coming to my home today. (I get kind of car sick now so I try to avoid riding in one as much as I can)... I didn't file sooner cause I didn't have anyone agreeing with me that I was sick from my office. This is all so sad and scarry... I heart goes out to all of those who are sick from their homes... They've lost everything... At least I can still rest in my own home and my family members aren't ill too... Ih well, thanks again for the info... I wish you well. Guest guest
Thanks for the advice. Guest guest
if you can find a ENT to take some sinus cultures tell them you want your sinuses washed out. it hurts, exspeacially if you have infection, but is worth it. you might want to get a neti pot so you can wash your sinuses on a regular basis, it well help alot. also, if you get exposed to some irritants and start haveing brain effects sometimes quickly washing your sinuses can slow or stop the reaction. I use a pinch of canning salt and distiled water. if I fell a infection comeing on I add a drop or two of hydrogen peroxide. this has saved me alot of misery and I fell it is one of the most important things you can do to help yourself. I wish someone, like the news channels would stress to the people dealing with tese flooded homes that even if they wear a mask they need to wash their sinuses out daily, it may save them some major sinus and brain injury. > > > > unlees your liver and immune system is dead and you are dead, your > > body will still remove these toxins from your body, otherwise many > of > > us would be long gone by now. your not going to die if you dont get > > antifungals and csm asap. getting out and staying out is the first > > step. until you find a doctor to prescribe antifungals and csm, > > advoidance of molds and chemicals is important. some people do get > > better just by getting away from the contaminated building, it > > depends on how bad it was and how bad it injured you. there are many > > levels of exposure and damage.the level of organ damage is done > while > > your exposed, everthing after that and after getting out is a lesser > > degree of exposure, hopefully, and you dont suffer more damage after > > getting out but if you have become hyper senative or hyper reactive > > to nolds and chemicals those things well keep your symptoms > > aggervated and keep you felling bad. getting sinus cultures done amd > > a good sinus washing and tested for allergies might be some things > > you can work on doing while looking for a doctor that can treat you. > > it's hard to know just how injured or what a person needs to do when > > they dont describe what symptoms they are haveing. some people well > > not not a doctor to even talk to them about mold exposure let alone > > give them antifungals and csm, not everyone can afford to get to a > > specialest and not everyone may need too. > > >
