The Depression in the Workplace Project is a combined effort by the ACOEM Health and Productivity Section and the Mental Health Committee to address this topic in a systematic, evidence-based fashion utilizing the pooled input of n ationally recognized experts in clinical and corporate practice and research. The most recent milestone in the evolving effort is publication of a Supplement of JOEM in April, 2008 comprising articles addressing basic science, prevention and treatment, and management at the organizational level. This webinar will provide an overview of both the project and the topic, including: * Review of scope and epidemiology, etiology, workplace and personal consequences, and diagnosis; * Analysis of fundamental management aspects, including prevention, the business case for intervention, classical and alternative approaches to treatment and expectation for treatment outcomes, and organizational issues; and * Considerations for a more integrated approach to current management, and for future directions in the field.
