Guest guest
Lilu I am with you girlie I hope she can redeem her cost for all the dedication Jeanie puts into this group. Thank you Jeanie for all you do for us! Amy Hollis To: "miralax " <miralax > Sent: Monday, June 4, 2012 1:15 PMSubject: Re: FDA Petition sent 5 Reams!! Good grief! Maybe the FDA is using the cost of petitioning them to look into something as a deterrent against frivolous claims? Still, it is unjust to make the victim bear the burden of expense!! I hope you have kept records of the cost. Perhaps one day you can be reimbursed or you are able to claim the expense on your taxes? Also, if you are using inkjet printers, look into getting a laser printer - they are far less costly these days, the cartridges are not that expensive an they last longer than inkjets. To: miralax Sent: Monday, June 4, 2012 11:56 AMSubject: Re: FDA Petition sent Oh no, I've went through 5 reams this weekend, 8 catridges of ink, and 5 reams, and three ink cartridges two weeks ago and spent over 500.00 this month alone. The FDA adverse reactions costed me 1300. over the last 10 years just for the FDA FOIA reports. FDA needs everything on hard copy upon petitioning, there's no via e-mailing a petition. We are bringing up this point to the FDA, why we the parents have to hold the burden/cost to bring to their attention adverse reactions reported when they are prescribing these medications and using our children as an experiment in the first place! Why would they make you print it out and mail it in this day and age!? That's at least 3 reams worth of paper! Guest guest
Your doctor "refused" to give her a blood test!? I hope that you have since fired him and also reported him to the AMA and Board!! If he were her regular pediatrician, he should have been trying to figure out what happened to change this once "normal" child into one who is suicidal and homicidal!! Geez! My daughter was 7 years old at the time. I could not at the time figure out what was causing her to be so changed. My husband and I feared for our lives those around us and her younger brother especially. There was an incident that sent me into a tail spin one day. We were leaving a football game which she cheers for and her brother played and I heard this loud banging sound from the rear of our expedition. At first I thought the vehicle had something wrong with it and then I looked in the rear mirror and saw my child trying to kick the back window out of our car. I immediately pulled over and asked what are you doing? She said I want to jump out this car. I was horrified at that moment! We went home and went to her room. My husband and I were trying to figure out what could cause our normally happy child to do such a thing. Then we started going through what was different. What was different was the Miralax! I tried very hard to contact the doctor who had prescribed it for her and he would return my calls. I found out later his nurse was not passing my messages forward. I went to my family physician and all he could do was praise the medication. I asked him to do blood work on her and he refused. I was very distraught to say the least. I decided to take the medication to the pharmacy that filled it and asked them to test the medication and to please let me know if it was tanted. They did and we found that there was nothing wrong with the drug, however what we did learn was that the medication was not recommended for children! I had written a letter to the pharmaceutical company and and had recieved written information from them that it should not be given to children. My pharmacist encouraged me to look at other options and I did. We found that even though was on Miralax only a short time it took her several months to ween herself off of the side effects. What we found through trial and error is that she has a lactose intollerance and have found terrific altenatives to using medications. I feel fortunate that we found out sooner than later than most. All my best wishes to those trying to ween their children off of what our family calls poison! Guest guest
Lilu, At the time I was so concerned did not even think of reporting him. This was a few years back and all he kept telling me was I have had great results. I personally think he was covering the other doctors rear for not calling me back. I was also told to contact the specialist office and talk to him which was going not where. I have documentation dated back I was faxing letters to the specialist office and was getting no where. We saved everything! My husband and I decided then that this would come out in the open one day and we were going to have our documentation.
