I'm looking for a doctor that is truely knowledgeable about mold

related illness... I live just north of Philly (Philadelphia, PA that

is). I found a facility that looks promising it's called The

Woodlands Healing Center in Quakertown... It's sounds a little

hoaking but they were listed on both the Mold Survivor and American

Academy of Environmental Medicine sites. I'll be having my first

appointment with them in about two weeks... Has anybody been

there?... Or know of any other doctors in my area?

I'm looking forward to seeing them but I'm real nervous that I won't

be able to afford treatment... First of all they no longer accept my

insurance for new patients, so I'm going to have to pay out of

pocket. I don't know how am going to afford it...

You see as soon as I got my semi-diagonsis a contacted a few people.

One was my contact for my private short term disability. He was

unsure how this would effect my claim, but he said that I probably

wouldn't receive any more money and that since it would change into a

workmens comp claim I would probably have to pay them back all the

money that I have received. Does that sound right to you?..

I also met with a workmens comp lawyer and he said there is this time

frame thing I had to report my claim within 120 days from when I

suspected that my illness was due to my office. So since I collected

mold samples back in February I might not have a claim with them

either. Which doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't I have to have a

doctor agree that I was sick before I could make a claim?..

And then, I have been paying my employer out of pocket to keep my

insurance going since I haven't been able to work for the past five

months. But since I submitted the workmens comp claim I'm not sure if

my employer will still allow me to keep doing it. I e-mailed my

employer last week to see when my next payment is due but they

haven't responded. I've heard that PA offers a low income health plan

called Adult Basic does anyone know if it will cover my needs?

I'm new to being a " moldy " ... and I don't understand the rules... Can

anyone help me make sense of it all?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seems like I heard of this place from a girl that use to come here.

Haven't seen her post for some time. Maybe you can type in the

Woodlands in the search area here. Wonder if Dr. Shoemaker takes your

insurance. He is in land. I don't live too far from Philly, but not

getting treated right now. It is all expensive from what I understand.

I don't know about the other questions regarding disability, etc.

Wow Bonnie, Dilemas...  Your very close to Shoemaker who I highly recomend. It

seems to me that the mold survivor sight is very thourough also, all be it the

diet they propose for us seems crazy it makes all the sence in the world and is

again the best I have seen to date. The cost is just something you will have to

do what you can do. It is expensive no matter where you go because of the

spaecialized testing that is done.

The legal questions you ask are difficult for me to address. Yes there is a time

in which you must report your injury. Now if I am not mistaken that is just to

report it. That is seperate from a diagnosis. It took a brain spectoscropy to

find the damage done by my exposure that gave me a legitamate disability. So

keep that in mind. As far as paying them back, yes if they finf that the claim

is fraudulant or not due to thier fault they can make you pay it back although I

dont know how often they actually enforce that. Haveing a doctor back up your

claim only makes sence to me. I dont see how anyone can make a claim without

some sort of medical evidence of injury.

I am not clear on what you meant by takeing samples back in February. Did you

have them tested? If so and they showed something wrong why would you not have a

claim? Again I am by no means any sort of an expert but I hope that helps get

you started. I might also tell you to look at www.realtimelabs.com he also does

testing that may or may not be helpful to you although again there is a cost.

Cost has halted me in my tracks as well so dont feel alone. Also Stacey here on

the board (my sister in law) found a doctor in land close to DC. I am not

sure of the answers that she has gotten but it sounds like he is a good doctor

and spent alot of time with her. Sometimes that is worth its weight in gold. I

have been waiting for her to post her experience and doctors name but have not

seen it yet.

Hope that helps ya.

Chris...
