That's great news about your husband! I am sure everything will be fine w/ your

tests as well. I'll be praying for you. I had to be checked for diabetes

throughout my pregnancies because I had such big babies (9lbs 5oz.) but it just

requires a little more care. I know there are several women on here who know a

lot more about diabetes than I do so I am sure you will get lots of good advice.

oldest brother are both diabetic. I had gestational

diabetes with my last pregnancy, but the only test

that was EVER high was the one that diagnosed it as

gestational diabetes. I have no symptoms of it. I

feel like I'm rambling on with this, I guess I'll just

call the endocrinologist my ob/gyn recommended and go

from there.

We will only have about a $750 tax refund so that with

my $3,000 in my flexible spending account is getting

us nearer to our total payment to Dr. Levin. Still

planning on Spring, hopefully everything will be okay.

I will be praying that your test results come back normal and that you

don't have diabetes. Everyone in my dad's family had it. So far I am lucky

not to have it. Keep us informed. You will be in my prayers.

love to ya.

Louisa,

Sorry to hear about the news. I can sort of relate, as my father also

had a high PSA, with metastasis to the bones, lymphnodes. Through

constant prayer and petition, and discovery of alternative treatments

to go with conventional, he was able to bring his PSA down. Also

cleared most of the lymphnodes as well. The bone involvement, the

doctor didn't do anything, as he didn't seem overly concerned about

it. Louisa, I'm already praying for you. Prayer, absolutely,

positively helps! I have no doubt in my mind that through prayer, the

cancer was able to be contained.

Sorry to hear about your Dad's position re his rising PCa. You mentioned

radiotherapy and injections (which I thought could be zoladex or something

similar) but have you looked at the possibility of zometa infusions to help the

bone situation? BTW if you do manage to get this (a potent bisphosphonate) it

might be worth bearing in mind that others report it's best to start with a

smaller dose over a longer time than usual to lessen the risk of an acute

reaction. Best wishes to you all, including the new arrival!

Anyway..i just thought I would give an update on my dad.

Over the last few months, dads psa level has been averaging 108. and is been wavering around that for ages. He has been in a lot of pain. Taking 2 pain killers...that barely lasts an hour.... So of course we were all waiting expectently for the lastest update from the Oncologist and specialists. It was a bit of a shock to see that dad's psa had gone up to 412 !!!!! It had gone up 300 points in just one month. He was prescribed to take morphine until he could get radiation treatment. He has the radiation treatment for the pain, and injections for fighting the cancer.

For those of you who are new, dad's cancer is in his bones, and its been travelling.

He is still in good spirits, which is good. And celebrated his 57th birthday recently, as well as the arrival of a new grandson. So he is doing ok on one hand...but on the factual , medical side...it doesnt look good..

I would appreciate any prayers, if anyone feels to. :-) and of course...love to hear any comments from anyone.

Thanks again for your ears..

To be honest, I only get the updates from Mum and Dad. Oh they tell me all the names...but it goes wayyyy over my head hahaha... Im not sure what the injection is, but it IS for his bones, as mum has called it "his bone fusion treatment" each time. He gets it once a month, and they have changed it, because it wasnt doing anything..

Thanks for your comments. :-) I will pass them all on to mum and dad...

Clint,

Thanks heaps, specially for the encouragement about prayer. I know you are right. ITs really difficult to keep that in front of my face all the time. So thanks heaps.

Many of you will remember my late sister-in-law Marti, the reason I founded

this list in 2000. Marti died several months ago, and her widower Dave is

getting married next week, so tomorrow my husband and I are heading out for

the wedding and a huge family celebration.

We love Barb, Dave's intended. He's known her and her family for several

years, in fact, he taught her grandchildren when her son was stationed in

Germany. After over ten years of dealing with Marti's illness--three years

in Germany and seven years after she had to be placed in private nursing

care here in the states, we thank God that he has another chance for

happiness. No one could have been a better husband to Marti, and he was

devastated by her illness. But she didn't speak, move, or recognize anyone

for the last three years of her life, so it he had plenty of time to say

goodby and prepare to move forward with his life.

Ann, thank you for sharing this very positive life after Lewy. Dave is blessed

not only in

finding another highy regarded partner in life, but also for family's blessing.

You truly are

a giving person. He deserves happiness. Thank you not only for sharing this,

but for this

conference itself.
