Beatrice-I was very interested that you are on Bactrim. I have been taking Sulfatrim(Same as bactrim) for about 11 months now. I take it every day-liquid form.Low dose 2 teaspoons full twice a day. I was a mess before I took this. Had pneumonia 4 times and suffered all year long with terrible mucus and chills and fevers and not feeling well most of the time. Since the Sulfatrim which I have been taking because of a bug I have called Nocardia, I have been completely well. No problem with the bronch at all. Im just perfect. Its unbelievable and my husband thinks its a miracle. Now I am going to see my doctor next month and know he wont know exactly what to do altho he is a great doctor. He will probably leave it up

to me to decide what to do next. I told him last time maybe I could cut back to 3 times a week after a year on sulfatrim and he thought that might be a good idea . So I am wondering how long your have been on Bactrim. The only trouble I have had with the drug is bruising. I would stay on it forever if I thought I could. Thanks for your input -June K

Dear Beaty,To my own knowledge the symptoms you mention aren¢t particular to bronch - I¢ve had bronch 40+ yrs, dx 38 yrs ago! I¢ve had swelling of feet, while in Thailand, very hot weather, and very unwell, but no other times and have been very ill due to bronch infections. It may be part of another condition, did you have other dx before that of bronchiectasis? ?Hope someone can be of more help!Best regards, joy

Beaty,

Are you using your inhalers

too often? This could be one reason why you have the shakes. Albuterol

in the nebulizer or inhalers make me shaky. My doctor took me off of

Albuterol and put me on Ipratropium Bromide with Albuterol Sulfate

generic for DuoNeb in my nebulizer and Combivent for my inhaler.

But most important call your

doctor and tell them and also make an appt.  He surely needs to see you

about the swelling.

Beattie,

I am not sure about this Intal nebulizer med for my asthma? I don't

know if it is this new drug or I am coming down with something as I've

had a stomach ache and loose stool bordering diarrhea for a few days

now.I've been on this for about 10 days. Before this I was on Cromolyn

Sodium nebulized med but they no longer make it and this Intal has

replaced it.

Hi June,

Thanks for your quickest response.

I've been on Bactrim for over 11 months, next month will be a year. I started taking this medicine in June last year when I got very sick and was diagnosed with pnuemonia which made me end up in ICU for three weeks and 1 week in a ward.

The dosage I'm on is 1 tablet twice a day (Double strength). I'm also glad that medication has really done wonders to my health and still is.

Regards

Beaty

Hi Nan,

I'll speak to my doctor about this medication and see which one he will recommend.

Beaty-thanks so much for your info on Bactrim. You make me feel really good. I've been taking it for about the same length of time as you but actually half the strength of yours. I am taking it in liquid form. I took bactrim before and couldn't take it because it made me really depressed and I'm not like that at all, and it almost paralyzed me as to me having a hard time to move around and do anything. But then when I got Nocardia on top of the bronc I needed to take the drug to get over the Nocardia. So the doctor put me on a small dose in liquid form and hoped for the best. Its been wonderful and I have no signs of bronc or nocardia. Now that a year is approaching, I dont know what to do next and I know the

doctor isnt going to know either, tho he's great. I would stay on it forever, it that would be ok. Who knows. anyway comforting to know that someone else is having the results I've had. My husband thinks I should tell everyone about the drug but a lot of people on this site seem to have had trouble with the drug and dont want to take it. Medicine works differrent with everyone. Ive had trouble with all antibiotics and a lot thro me into a bronco spasm. Glad youre doing well, and thanks for writing. JuneK

Beattie,

I don't think the med Intal is causing my stomach problems as this

morning I woke with a splitting sinus headache so I must have a bug.

Be well,

Nan
