EPA warns public about flood scam

Dubuque Telegraph Herald - Dubuque,IA*

http://www.thonline.com/article.cfm?id=207919

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is warning of scams in

Iowa's flood-affected areas where callers offer to conduct indoor

air sampling for a fee on behalf of the EPA.

Those contacted by anyone claiming they are from the EPA offering

indoor air sampling should report the activity to the FEMA Fraud

Hotline at 866-720-5721; the State Attorney General at 515-281-5926

(Iowa toll-free 888-777-4590); or the local police department.

EPA on-scene coordinators are assessing outdoor air quality by using

fixed monitoring equipment situated at key points throughout the

flood-damaged area.

As analytical results for outdoor air sampling become available,

reports will be posted on the EPA Region 7 Web site at

www.epa.gov/region7.
