Guest guest
Sounds reasonable. Sounds like a test one could do looking for a new home or apartment. How would a homeowner test this, putting the tip of a home humidity guage inside of wall through wall outlet would do the test, using one of those moisture meters that you press on the wall. Incidentally I'd like to get one. Does anyone have a recommendation of something reasonably priced but reliable? --- In , LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: > > Barb, > > This is an interesting paper that does the work of predicting whether > stachybotrys mold will grow in a wall or produce mycotoxins inside the wall > that accumulate there. >
Guest guest
That's very useful information, Carl, as always, thank you so much. > > > > > > Barb, > > > > > > This is an interesting paper that does the work of predicting > > whether > > > stachybotrys mold will grow in a wall or produce mycotoxins inside > > the wall > > > that accumulate there. > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > > FAIR USE NOTICE: > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks Carl. I totally understand and it makes sense. Moisture would have to be high for a long enough period to start mold growth and to keep it up. It could be high during the night when temperatures drop but dry out sufficiently during the day when it's hot or inside factors as well. I also know understand the term 'inflamation'. I thought my doctor was saying the two could not be present at same time, it was either infected or inflamed. Got it! --- In , " Carl E. Guest guest
I'd like to get a hygrometer. I wrote the au's of the relative humidity/stachy study and that's apparently what they used. Apparently it is not too expensive. I know nothing is 100% but at least I can try to help myself a little . Last night it was extremely cool here for August, I kept the livingroom window fans on but not my master bedroom. I woke at one point, went to get some water, and went back into my master bedroom. I swear there was an ever so slight musty smell. I'm very attuned to this now and seem to have the nose of a dog, but it upsets me no end. Because I know the whole apartment is overall, just not very healthy, and I can't leave right now. (I know " can't " is a relative word to some, but in any case). Meanwhile, on a slightly different note, I can now compare the clothed washed with Seventh Generation soap in my little Avanti-Eco Egg which I love-----to the larger items such as big thick towels or bathroom rugs, that I still wash downstairs. And now I'm more aware than ever of how contaminated all my stuff is getting downstairs. My Avanti clothes smell clean and just like themselves--the cotton or silk or whatever they are made of. It's so pleasing and wonderful. The towels and rug just smell awful to me now, even worse than before, because now I have a comparison. I hope I can find a suitable portable washer (used, so it's not offgassing new plastic) that someone used a good healthy soap like Ecover or 7th Generation, so I can just forget the laundry room altogether.
