Guest guest
The PANDAS profile from neurorelief.com tests for this. My son's MBP numbers were 400% elevated at one point. We need to retest again. Kerrie Oh, and am I correct that he can be tested to see if he is making this antibody which would then tell us if he is attacking his own myelin???? Thanks!AOL Search: Your one stop for directions, recipes and all other Holiday needs. Search Now.
Guest guest
In OCD with PANDAS kids, that is essentially what is happening. The body's own antibodies are attacking the body's myelin sheath. Subject: Myelin developmentTo: AUTISM-togetherinautismorg , mb12 valtrex Date: Tuesday, November 11, 2008, 8:47 AM I started reading last night and was SHOCKED when I started to read about Myelin Basic Protein. If I am understanding what I am reading correctly, some autistic children have produced this antibody and the MBP is attacking the myelin because it thinks it is a foreign invader? Is that correct? I am asking because when Tristan was a baby and having seizures (which were blamed on his chemo and could be from that but we¢ll never know), they did an MRI of his brain to make sure his cancer hadn¢t spread there. He was maybe 6-9 months old at this time. The MRI was essentially normal EXCEPT that they said his myelin hadn¢t developed correctly. They said that it was normal in preemies for their myelin to be delayed and that eventually it would catch up. I asked about his myelin developing throughout the years as we saw autistic traits and it was always dismissed because by that time it would have caught up in development. This is the FIRST time in almost 12 years that I have read ANYTHING about myelin development and had it could be directly correlated to Tristan¢s case. It is reasonable to think that his myelin WAS underdeveloped because of being premature but if he already had that issue and then the vaccines or whatever it is that caused his autism isn¢t it reasonable to think that his myelin has always been an issue? That maybe this is part of the puzzle that needs to be addressed with him? I literally jumped out of bed last night when I read this! Oh, and am I correct that he can be tested to see if he is making this antibody which would then tell us if he is attacking his own myelin???? Thanks!
