Guest guest
Hi , I can really relate to this one. My daughter suffered for years with tonsillitis before they finally took them out. Her first year of school she missed 65 days because of it and I finally demanded they come out. It's not unusual for a child so young as yours to spike a fever like she is. Mine used to go up to 105 on occasion. This is why she's sleeping so much too. Keep up with the Ibuprofen on a regular schedule and give her a room temperature bath. Don''t over dress her, long ago they used to say to sweat it out but it's not true. Keep her in as little as possible as long as she's not chilled. It takes a good 24 hours for the antibiotics to really start. You should start seeing improvement sometime Friday but it does take a few days. Make sure you give her all the antibiotics, don't stop after a few days just because she seems better. Tonsillitis takes a good ten days or so to go away. Just keep a watch on her and if she seems to be getting worse or not improving at all by Saturday then I would give the good old doctor a call or go to the ER. She may need to have the antibiotic changed. But that's jumping the gun. She'll probably feel better in a day or so. When she sleeps, you sleep. If you don't feel comfortable, that you want to watch and listen to her, sleep in the same room with her, put her in your bed and both take a nap. Please let me know how she's doing and feel free to e-mail me if you just want to talk. I know how exhausting it can be for you. Hope you get some sleep tonight.
