Guest guest
I have an appointment for Tristan on the 26th of this month and am trying to absorb as much info as I can about biomedical treatments. As with most of us finances are a consideration when trying to figure out what blood work to draw and where exactly to start. We have a whole separate but very serious issue of Tristan’s ’s Disease to watch while doing any kind of treatments because if his body is under any stress it could kill him. So we are going to really have to proceed cautiously. This is part of the reason I am going to our family doctor first. She is awesome and I think she would be on board with biomedical treatments (I hope anyways) but I need her to be monitoring him throughout this process even if we end up with a DAN doctor or someone else. I just finished reading the book “Healing the New Childhood Epidemics Autism, ADHD, Asthma, and Allergies” by Dr. Bock. I liked the book and got a lot of info from it but in some instance feel more lost and confused about where to start and what to do. I have heard a couple people mention “Children with Starving Brains” and have the book sitting here ready to read. Would you all recommend this as a good place to start. I really don’t’ want to end up more confused. LOL! I kind of feel like my mind is turning to mush from reading so much of this but I need to wade through it all and decipher what is best for Tristan. Would this be a good starting point? Guest guest
I read Children with Starving Brains twice – the second time (months after I began biomed), everything seemed to sink in so much more and I could absorb what everything meant. The first time I had just begun biomed and all the terminology was so foreign AND overwhelming. It was easy to get discouraged. Don’t get overwhelmed and start slowly. Every new step is a good thing you’re doing for your child. Good luck and keep your chin up! Guest guest
I recommend Dr. Jepson's book " Changing the Course of Autism: A Scientific Approach for Parents and Physicians. " Also, " What Your Doctor May NOT Tell You about Childhood Vaccinations " by Dr. Cave. Guest guest
I also recommend Dr. Jepson's book, but since it's written for physicians it can be a bit overwhelming. I have a degree in dietetics and a strong background in biology and I find myself not getting all of it. I revisit it on occasion as my biomedical knowledge expands.
