Guest guest
FILTHY GYM AIR BLAMED IN TRAINER'S DEATH New York Post* By BRIGITTE WILLIAMS-JAMES July 12, 2008 http://www.nypost.com/seven/07122008/news/regionalnews/filthy_gym_air _blamed_in_trainers_death_119553.htm The foul air at a mold- and dirt-ridden Brooklyn gym may have been responsible for the death of a personal trainer four months ago, his family's lawyer said yesterday. Craig, 36, had worked at the Paedergat Athletic Club in Canarsie six days a week for six years before he passed out March 28 after a game of basketball, said lawyer Larry Kramer, who is planning to file suit. Though an autopsy revealed moderate cardiovascular disease, it also showed unusual hemorrhaging and fluid in the lung tissue - a sign the club's filthy ventilation system may have been the silent killer, the lawyer said. Those suspicions were bolstered by a damning report from the city Comptroller's Office, issued less than a week after Craig's death, slamming " hazardous and disgusting conditions " at Paedergat. The report didn't surprise Craig's grieving mom. " He said there was a lot of germs around. Things were growing out of the walls, " Craig-Horne recalled. " I can't even bear to think about him being gone. "
