Guest guest
You should have left everything behind. You will only cross contaminate your new place. I know how hard that is, it was heartbreaking for me, however, you are only carrying the spores from one place to the other. The spores are where the danger lies. > > Sick Buildings Information and SupportWell, thank goodness we " escaped " the > home that was making us sick. Guest guest
I can certainly identify with you on getting the " mold sickness " just being around old books/clothes, etc... I decided that I wanted my health more than I wanted any of my stuff. So I put everything in my entire house at the curb (people came up and went through it all and hauled it all off before trash day). I put my house on the market and sold it and moved into a brand new apt. (My house wasn't the mold source, but after years of exposure at work, and bringing the spores home I was SOOOO sensitive to everything.) So, once I made the decision, I rid myself of all my belongings and sold my house and was moved within 3 weeks! I felt trremendously better immediately. I don't miss any of my stuff! gail
Guest guest
I agree for the most part, belongings must be left behind. But I have done some experimenting with washing some clothes repeatedly with about 60 - 80 drops of grapefruit seed extract along with some non-scented, non-toxic laundry detergent. The clothes seemed to be okay after two good washings this way. Alot depends though on what type of mold or otherwise contaminants where abosrbed and also how sensitive you are. This was something a friend tried first and later shared with me who was at one time quite critically ill with mold, lyme and mcs. When she found it to work for her, we tried it with success. However this is only with washable clothes. I can't speak to furniture or apolstry or other belongings. Again, it all may depend on the exposure to the clothing and your own sensitivity. Guest guest
This is a great idea, thanks. I have been trying to get a musty odor out of some vintage pillowcases I have. I'm going to try this. > > I agree for the most part, belongings must be left behind.
