Xolair = good or bad?

Hi Group,

Been I long time since I have posted here. My son has very high IgE

levels and we have been approved to use Xolair by our insurance

provider for five years. Xolair is otherwise very expensive. It

lowers IgE levels. My son is VERY allergic to mold. Winter is a

good time for him, asthma goes away, we go off steroids.

I would like to lower his steroid use and this product could help

with that. Anaphylaxis is one dangerous side effect of this drug.

Walking around with very high IgE levels is also a risk for

anaphylaxic shock so I have been told. Like most drugs available,

Xolair is no cure though I did see in one study that thirteen of

eighteen test subjects had only mild asthma after six years use a

year after going off it.

Anyone use this or know anything about it?

Anything else new for mold and asthma of late?

Thanks,

Fletch

PS We have switched to Advair this spring and have him taking allergy

shots and he is doing real well with his asthma, way better than with

Pulmicort had been before. Eczema is all clear too.
