New Office to Enhance Collaboration and Partnership with CDC

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., July 14, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Abt

Associates, a research, consulting, and technical assistance firm,

this month opened an Atlanta office designed to facilitate

collaboration, access, and enhanced services to the U.S. Centers for

Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

" The CDC has been a substantial client of our firm for many years, "

said Kathleen Flanagan, Group Vice President for Social, Economic

and Health Policy at Abt Associates. " We are confident that our new

Atlanta office will enable us to strengthen communications with our

CDC contacts, maximize project continuity, and enhance both the

effectiveness and cost-efficiency of our project work. "

Recent and ongoing studies on which Abt Associates has collaborated

with the CDC include HIV prevention, chronic fatigue syndrome, flu

vaccine safety, avian flu vaccine effectiveness, and the results of

early exposure to mercury from thimerosal-containing vaccines.

The Atlanta office will be headed up initially by W. Royal,

Ph.D., Vice President and Deputy Director for Domestic Health at Abt

Associates. Dr. Royal is an epidemiologist who has worked

extensively with the CDC both during and prior to his three-year

tenure at the firm. " I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to lead
