Guest guest
the immune responces of a true food allergy can be seperated into two categories, mediated IgE and non-IgE-cell-mediated. the more common IgE mediated responce, also refered to as immedate hypersensitivity reaction involves rapid onset of symptoms, where non- IgE-cell-mediated,also refered as a delayed hypersensitivity reaction, involves a delayed onset in symptoms, usually 24 hours or more.(delayed type IV responce) and I did have some of these delayed responces also with allergy testing that went basicly unreconized because I was home by the time they started showing the reaction. this is why I fell so strongly that the differences between calling a allergy a allergy and calling a chemical/toxic responce a chemical/toxic responce is important, what the public percieves as a allergy is pretty mild compared to what we are liveing with. while other things may be going on I dont see any difference between IgE mediated responce or delay except the delay and the fact that immediate shows what your reacting to while the doc is in and delayed doesn't. a true food allergy is a abnormal reaction that involves the immune system to a certain component in the food, usually a protien.(a protien!!!, could be a mycotoxin,DNA adduct) http://citnews.unl.edu/nutrition/html/lesson.shtml? direction=forward & topic_order=1 & lesson_id=1014407503 immunoglobulin E http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Immunoglobulin_E Helminth and allergic disorders and IgE mediated responces, where do we stand? http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17447233
