Guest guest
Dear Carol, Good for you - on so many counts! LBD will sure generate buzz, and the more that ask, the more opportunities for education. I hope someone around me at my end will be as clever - and as feeling - as you. I can only hope Millie is now not LBD'd and is laughing about the marbles. Please don't contain yourself - we all need you! Since LBD took almost all of Millie's marbles, what I am putting in her purse inside the casket is a bag of marbles. I will copy the obit and add to a post. I got the call as my alarm clock went off this a.m., I had little time to adjust before greeting my students at 7:15. We clipped a bit of Millie's hair to have buried at the family plot where Millie's sibs and parents are buried. We listed that event as an informal ceremony in a north Florida cemetery. I am having her former caregiver clean her house tomorrow just in case any nieces and nephews show up and need a place to stay. We are burying Millie in silk pajamas. They are very pretty, and she liked them when she had an opinion. I will keep reading and jump in when I just can't contain myself anymore. Carol Welcome to LBDcaregivers. Guest guest
I had also put Lewy Body Disease as cause of my dad's death. I wanted to generate some type of awareness, curiosity, and hoped that if someone else was going through what I had gone through they could get a hold of me. That happened. A man near where I live had been diagnosed shortly before my dad passed away and (daughter) gave a few weeks for me to grieve then called. She explained the story of her dad and we found we had a lot more in common. Her mom worked for Pioneer of which I worked for the catering company that catered to the building her mom worked at. Also, 's mom and dad lived in a town my parents had friends with when I was growing up. I had the honor to meet Irwin (pictured in the photo's section) and was able to visit him regularly even while in Hospice. I took them Hershey's Hugs to have hugs while I wasn't there. Irwin always remembered me even when he struggled with his memory. Irwin passed away in May while I was at my cousin's funeral. Two days after my cousin's funeral I attended Irwin's funeral. I was able to stop in to see Sue each time her office (or nearby office) ordered a catered lunch. Each time I was introduced to her co-workers - she is so sweet. So, again, a bittersweet time yet without LBD I wouldn't have been able to meet such a sweet family and share their journey with them. Carol, you may reach more people than you think by stating Millie's passing from LBD. Take care of yourself. You and your family are in my prayers daily and will remain there- Sandie Des Moines, IA dad, Merle, passed from LBD 9-20-02, age 65 mum, (MIL), Jo, passed from LBD 4-29-07, age 78 -- " adhd5464 " wrote: I figured few would know what it is, but, it may generate some buzz and curiosity.
