Guest guest
With all the discussions here about mold and bacteria I had a question. I have had my home tested for mold and mycotoxins, is there a way to test for bacteria? Also, with me the problem IS infection, not inflammation. Doc here blames the faulty immune system on the infections, but indirectly caused by mold. When I asked the question last week about immunity, most of you said your immune systems worked overtime. Isnt it possible that after years of that, it could crash and be suppressed as mine is? Similar to what happens with the adrenal glands during exposure. Great discussions lately, I am learning alot. Guest guest
Diane, Testing for " bacteria " is possible but of limited value. It is usually identified only in large groupings such gram positive or gram negative (Google it, Wikipeida has a decent description of the two). Or by shape: rods, spheres, spirals. (Google " bacteria shape " ). Specific organism identification is most common for sewage contaminations: e-coli and total coliforms, for example. More specificity requires instructions for what to look for so a single organism type among the billions possible can be targeted for collection and analysis. This is usually at a medical lab rather than at an environmental or IAQ type lab and usually for infectious bacteria rather than non-infectious. The distinctions are beginning to sound like the limitations for mold sampling, aren't they? I think Jeff May has more information on bacteria. Guest guest
yes, I think you have it exactly, your immune system reves up and works overtime untill you crash and burn-I was chronically sick for years- getting worse and worse, gained 75lbs-then lost it all in 2 months when everything went critical, bloody diareha, mouth full of fungus, could hardly breathe, walk or talk. Faced with all these symtoms and more, the allergist said- " you just have an allergy-there is no such thing as mycotoxosis " -after spending all my money with that fruitcake, I finally found this site and Dr Shoemaker. full > > With all the discussions here about mold and bacteria I had a question. > I have had my home tested for mold and mycotoxins, is there a way to > test for bacteria? > > Also, with me the problem IS infection, not inflammation.
