Guest guest
Well today Isabella had her first trip to the zoo. We went with one of her theapist pre-pre-school classes, all of the children were under 3. Isabella had a wonderful time and loved being around the other children. There were children with a wide variety of disabilities but Isabella seemed to be draw to two little girls that had ds. She wanted to hold hands with them and share her french fries but only with them for some reason. Even her therapist remarked at it. Out of all of the animals she saw, her favorite thing was the birds that hung out around the food court. She was also more then willing to through them some french fries too. One of the other mothers who daughter had ds ask me if I would mind if she look at Isabella to see if she saw ds in her. I of course said absolutely you can look at her. She could not find any signs until I pointed them out to her and once I directed her to Isabella's one eye and then showed her the crease on her hand. The funny thing was neither of their daughters had the crease. Both mothers and one father was facinated by this crease and the mds. They asked me to explain the difference because neither of them had ever heard of mds. Usually the do not take children into the pre-pre school until they are 2 but they said Isabella could join at around 18 to 20 months. It is only one or two days a week for 2 hours and the mothers stay in another room. It is to get them use to their mothers being away from them. I think it will be good for Isabella and me both.
