Guest guest
CJ: I would offer a different perspective. Many people associate their identity with many labels but to not meet the standard definition for a diagnosis. That does not invalidate their feelings or how they perceive their identity. It is how you see your self or think others see you. One can have a member of their family with an dx. of AS and still indentify and feel they have shadow symptoms or are dusted by it without it being full blown. There are many shades and severity of autism and many will never seek a dx. because they don't need one and have learned on their own to navigate life with their unique brain. If you agree it is a syndrome, all possibilities are possible. One can be dusted with autism and totally integrated and successful and on the other end in a residential facility for life skills. It is a syndrome from A-Z. Just me.
