Guest guest
Hi , I totally understand your concern about inhaled steroids. I, too, am worried about taking them. My allergist has me on high dosage of steroids -- basically 4 puffs of steroids, twice a day. I've been questioning whether this is really necessary but he keeps telling me that it's much less harmful than the oral steroids (prednisone) I was previously taking. Plus, he mentioned that it would help prevent further lung damage. I've been following his advice and have noticed an improvement in my spirometry (but am not sure if that's from the bronchodilator, steroids or both). However, I do notice that my blood pressure has moderately increased since taking these meds and I do worry about osteoporosis, etc. I, like you, am between a rock and a hard place. I don't have answers for you but I do empathize with you because I, too, am confused and not sure what to do. But hopefully your doctor knows best. I was told by my allergist that the first few percentages on the spirometry are the bigger airways and the 25-75% is the smaller airways. Take care, Cassie
