Guest guest
> By the way, I met Plank, fellow Aspie and the founder of WrongPlanet.net - the largest social network for autistics (as well as for parents of autistics and the professionals who treat autistics). He was one of the keynotes at the conference. Very funny guy, and very successful entrepreneur at only the age of 25. I was not aware of this. What sort of business did he launch, and what is his area of expertise? When I read the term " entrepreneur " , I usually don't associate it with people who are founders of a support/social group. Even one as large as WrongPlanet. To me, that seems like an overly grandiose use of a term that most people typically associate with launching new business opportunities. [This practice of over-inflating titles kind of reminds me of a guy I know who billed himself as a " photographer " although his job really involved photocopying documents in a copy center.] > " Perhaps it is time to write the book after all. If my best friend, April, and and at the conference have suggested I write a book, who am I to think otherwise? To not write the book does not give me an opportunity to share with others about my experiences. Not doing so prevents people from being able to relate to me - even with my sense of humor (egads!). Above all, not writing that book is one less contribution to further the cause of autism - and eventually - humanity. " The decision to write a book is up to you -- not what others think you should do. If you have the time to focus on this project, by all means go ahead and write about your experiences as an Aspie. Some authors find the process to be much more therapeutic for themselves than for their readers. In my experience with those who urge others to write books, it's more a way of paying a compliment than anything else. It's not really a literal directive to take action. If everyone who received such compliments actually wrote a book, there would be no forest left standing! lol Best, ~CJ
