Guest guest
Hey everyone, As there are two 'Jan's', I'll go by Rob, which has been my nickname (within the family) since childhood. So enjoyed the nice emails, I have learned so MUCH about DLB is just the last few days. What a baffling disease. Mom has been extremely confused and out-there the last week or. She has a dr.s appt today, will discuss 'meds', maybe she cannot tolerate the Ex. Patch (4.6mg). I do not know if it is the medicine or the progression of the disease but her behavior eps. yesterday and today has been real stange. Big changes in the air. Everything started happening so fast, I am still in a whirlwind. The family actually met yesterday and decided that we will be place Mom in LPCF (The Belmont)about four miles from Sis. We have visited many facilities and I believe, the Belmont is the best choice for Mom, at this stage. The Belmont offers a 'Circle of Friends' program, which is one-step b4 'The Neighborhood.' It is a lovely place, not to fancy and I pray will give Mother the personal care they say that are. She will have a limited amount of independence, a 'circle of friends', a personal pal and an active schedule. Not knowing how she will progress with DLB, atleast she may have some quality of life for the next yr or so. Yes, it's expensive but she is financially OK for a few yrs and it is not about the money anyway. I will help her every step of the way. It feels right, it's 'falling into place' and Mom's moving on up to the East side. She has always been a Christain woman, a good mother and a wonderful friend. Yesterday it was her who got the conversation going and once again, Mom was back. Hopefully we will have her in by end of March. Of course, there's a house to pack and sell. If I play my cards right, maybe I will get to stay through the first Saturday in May, Derby Day. I must remember to cherish every moment of these last few weeks in the 'homestead' and tell her I love her everyday. Thanks again for the advice and knowledge. Guest guest
Rob, This is such good news. Usually there is so much tooth pulling when it comes to siblings so its nice to read about people coming together to do the right thing by the LO. I hope you all find a great place for your mom and that she is happy there. Courage What a great group........
